Libia recognizes doctors of Guanajuato

Governor Libia Dennise presided over the commemoration of Doctor’s Day and reaffirmed her commitment to strengthen the State Health System

Guanajuato ranks first nationally in satisfaction with State health services; it has more than 630 medical units in its 46 municipalities

“Every patient who recovers their health, every successful surgery, and every family that finds care in a difficult time have something in common: the work and dedication of Guanajuato’s doctors”, said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

Libia Dennise recognized the commitment and dedication of doctors during the commemoration of National Medicine Professionals Day.

The Governor noted that Guanajuato remains one of the leading states in medical care in Mexico, having earned first place nationally in satisfaction with State Health Services, according to an evaluation by RUBRUM in January 2026.

The State Governor assured that this recognition is the result of the daily work of those who serve the population in hospitals, clinics and health centers, often putting aside personal moments to take care of someone else’s life.

“What truly makes Guanajuato’s health system great is that our hospitals should not only provide care and medical diagnoses, but also empathy, love, support, and professional ethics,” the Governor said.

Libia said that maintaining this leadership also requires acknowledging areas for improvement. Therefore, she reiterated that strengthening the health budget will be one of her priorities for 2027, with the aim of securing more resources for medical care, medications, equipment, and improved working conditions.

As part of the actions to recognize the staff, Libia recalled that she recently announced an extraordinary day of rest for more than 22,000 workers of the Guanajuato State Public Health Institute (ISAPEG), in addition to the economic incentive of 1,300 pesos planned for the base staff.

The Guanajuato Health System:

• 4,366 doctors
• More than 630 medical units distributed across its 46 municipalities
• In 2025, it provided 3.7 million medical consultations
• Attended to more than 714,000 emergencies
• Performed 96,000 surgeries

Libia Dennise also acknowledged the additional effort represented by the zero rejection policy in emergencies, through which care is provided to people who need it, even when they have coverage in other health institutions.

The Secretary of Health, Gabriel Alfredo Cortas Alcala, thanked his colleagues for their ability to listen to, guide and support patients, especially those who work in the most remote communities of the State.

During the ceremony, awards were presented to medical professionals for their career achievements and contributions to the health of Guanajuatense families.
