“In October we are also running the People’s Will Month campaign, with preferential prices for the people of Guanajuato, so we invite you to come to the notaries to carry out this procedure in order to avoid leaving legal problems for our families,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

The Governor led the broadcast of Connecting with the People, where she discussed the work carried out by the Secretary of Government in coordination with the State College of Notaries of Guanajuato, on topics such as the Month of the Will “People’s Will”, the support for Collectives of Searching Mothers and the upcoming Opposition Exam for Public Notaries.

This broadcast featured the participation of the Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona; the President of the Guanajuato State College of Notaries, Pilar Fuentes Cortez; and the representative of Madres Guerreras de Leon (Warrior Mothers of Leon), Martha Cecilia Cruz Reyes.

The Governor noted that the “People’s Wills Month” campaign takes place over two months: September and October. It’s a great initiative that has been running for 23 years. “Today we want to raise awareness about making a will, about establishing legal certainty and thus avoiding legal problems that represent a cost to our families.”

The Secretary of Government said that through this program, the focus is on prevention, to avoid legal problems; therefore, the Month of the Will promotes the culture of making wills through a simple procedure carried out with the assistance of a notary.

Pilar Fuentes said that the preferential cost for making a will is 3,500 pesos.

Libia Dennise also highlighted the collaboration of notaries in the case of supporting groups of Searching Mothers for the constitution of civil associations and the notarization of assemblies, which allow these organizations to formalize their requests, actions and determinations before any instance.

Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona said that follow-up, connection and support have been given in this process to 20 independent searchers and collectives, including Madres Guerreras, whose Integration Act has been delivered to Martha Cecilia Cruz, she is a searcher mother.

The Mothers Warriors of Leon collective has been around for five years. Martha began this work nine years ago after the disappearance of her son, Lucio Uriel Lopez Cruz, which led her to found the group. She promotes and participates in field searches with various State and Municipal Authorities, not only in Leon but throughout the State.

“Thank you for your support, we are now officially established, which is very important because we have taken another step forward as a collective,” said Martha Cecilia.

And another issue, the Governor said, on which they are also working closely with the State College of Notaries, is the competitive examination for obtaining notary licenses. A new call for applications for 25 notary positions was published on August 31. The written exam will be on October 23 and the practical exam on October 30. It is an unprecedented, professional, and transparent process in Guanajuato.

Only 22 notary offices received applications for the competition. The three notary offices not participating in the competition are: Coroneo, Victoria, and Xichu. A total of 91 people are eligible to take the exam, in accordance with the resolutions issued by the General Direction of Public Registries of Property and Notaries.
