Health reports 5 months without new cases of measles

Vaccination and epidemiological surveillance strengthen the protection of Guanajuatenses, said the Secretary of Health

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reports approximately five months without new cases of measles in the State, thanks to vaccination efforts and epidemiological surveillance, as well as the participation of Guanajuatense families in protecting their children.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, highlighted that there are currently no new or suspected cases of measles in any of the 46 municipalities of the State.

Cortes Alcala explained that the last cases of measles were registered in March, so several months have passed without new infections, where vaccination represented a turning point in containing this disease and preventing its spread.

Cortes acknowledged the responsibility of Guanajuatense families, who have responded favorably to the vaccination campaigns, a participation that has strengthened collective protection and kept the State without new cases, even amid numerous infections in neighboring states.

Guanajuato also remains a national leader in the targeted search for febrile exanthematous disease, a strategy that allows for the timely identification of illnesses such as measles, chickenpox and other diseases; this surveillance strengthens the response capacity and facilitates the early detection of possible cases.

Gabriel Cortes Alcala said that these results reflect the ongoing work of the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato in vaccination, epidemiological surveillance, and dengue prevention. Cortes also called on the population to maintain preventive measures, get vaccinated when they should, and participate in health care.
