From the kitchen and to the operational command, members of the State Corporation share how the example at home cemented their commitment for the peace of Guanajuatense families

193 years after its creation, the FSPE demonstrates that the first approach to this vocation often occurs at home

In the State Public Security Forces (FSPE), the vocation of service is not only an individual decision: it is a conviction that is formed over time, learned in the family environment and, in many cases, transmitted from generation to generation.

193 years after its creation, the women and men who make up this corporation reflect how the commitment to security and social welfare is born from example and consolidated as a way of life.

The stories shared by members of the State Police Forces show that the first introduction to this vocation often occurs at home. In some cases, it comes from family members who were directly involved in the institutional life of the force, even without wearing a police uniform.

Such is the case of Diana, a Third Class Police Officer, who found inspiration in her grandmother, who served as a cook for the State Public Security Forces for 32 years. Her work began at dawn so that breakfast would be ready for the police officers at the start of their shift, and sometimes she even went out into the field to take and serve food.

“Seeing her commitment, loyalty, and even bravery was what inspired me to want to serve… but from the uniform, to go out and defend my people,” said Diana.

In other cases, the vocation is inherited directly from mothers or fathers who were part of the force, leaving a significant mark on their sons and daughters. Iveth shares that since she was a child she dreamed of following in her father’s footsteps: “When I saw my dad in uniform I thought: someday I want to be like him… it was a huge motivation.”

Similarly, Maria Luisa acknowledges that her father’s example, with 25 years of service, profoundly marked her career: “The best that he left for me is his commitment and honesty.”

These stories are further enriched by the experiences of those who have found the origin of their vocation in their mothers, as in the case of a member of the force whose mother is also part of the FSPE. This confirms that this legacy of service transcends gender, but is based on shared values such as discipline, dedication, loyalty, and social responsibility.

Beyond family background, all these trajectories coincide in one fundamental element: the conviction that being part of the FSPE implies a permanent commitment to society.

“Being an FSPE officer means trying to do the right thing when no one is watching… it’s about conveying confidence that things can change,” says Diana. This vision translates into everyday actions that strengthen community engagement, prevention, and citizen protection.

Likewise, these stories reflect an important transformation within the corporation, where more and more women are occupying spaces of active participation and leadership, in an environment that today recognizes and strengthens equal opportunities.

“Now we have female commissioners… Today I see that I can have a career like the one my father had, or even better,” said Iveth. This progress is complemented by the participation of men who also recognize in their mothers and fathers the example that gave rise to their vocation.

The impact of this transgenerational vocation also extends into the future. The members of the FSPE not only carry out their work in the operational sphere, but also become role models for their families and communities. “We are an example for our children… for many young people who trust us,” says Maria Luisa. This bond strengthens social trust and the transmission of values such as honesty, commitment, and respect.

In Guanajuato, the State Public Security Forces are consolidating themselves as an institution where the vocation of service is cultivated, inherited, and constantly renewed.

Therefore, the Secretary of Security and Peace recognizes in these trajectories an example of institutional strength and a reminder that building a safe environment is a shared task, in which the vocation to serve continues to be the fundamental pillar.
