Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo acknowledged the close relationship between Guanajuato and Japan during the commemoration of Japan’s National Day, which celebrates the birthday of Emperor Naruhito, born on February 23, 1960.

“The friendship between Guanajuato and Japan is not recent or circumstantial; it is a relationship that has been built over the years with great trust, with a long-term vision, based on intercultural understanding and the conviction that working together will always bear fruit,” said the Governor at this solemn ceremony.

Accompanied by the Consul General of Japan in Leon, Takero Aoyama, the State Governor celebrated the similarities between both peoples and highlighted that Japan is an example of transcendence, courtesy and commitment to excellence.

“Today, as we celebrate Japan’s National Day, we are celebrating more than just a date; we are paying homage to an ancient culture that has preserved its essential values throughout time, and whose respect, discipline, perseverance, and harmony we all admire, along with a deep aspiration for a culture of peace that they transmit to us today so that we may continue working in Guanajuato for what we so deeply desire,” said Libia Dennise.

The Governor mentioned the collaboration between Guanajuato and Hiroshima, formalized in 2014 with the signing of a friendship agreement; in the economic sphere, the presence of Japanese companies in Guanajuato is an example of mutual trust, with Japan being the main trading partner with 150 companies that generate more than 48,000 jobs.

“May this celebration be a space to renew the bonds that unite us, to deeply appreciate what we have built together,” said the Governor.
Present at this solemn ceremony were members of the State Cabinet, representatives of the Municipal Government, and members of the Nikkei community living in Guanajuato.
