The Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the Third Delivery of Economic Support for Migrants of Guanajuato, as part of the International Migrant Day this December 18.

“Today I want you to know that in Guanajuato there is a Government that sees you, listens to you, and values ​​you. From here we tell you that you are not alone,” said the Governor.

Libia said that State agencies link their programs with services ranging from legal advice and documentation to job inclusion and productive opportunities.

 “We are going to treat you as you deserve; we know that you arrive and sometimes need medical attention, paperwork or services, and here we are,” Libia said.

Today marked the third distribution of support from the “Migrante Quiero” Assisted Return Plan, providing 210 grants to migrants from Guanajuato. Of these, 72 are direct economic support grants and 138 are for productive projects, totaling more than 4.5 million pesos to support their return and strengthen their social, family, and economic reintegration in Guanajuato.

Last May, the first delivery of 97 aid packages was made, and in October 75 more were delivered.

The “Migrante Quiero” Plan operates on several axes that include support in the United States through:

  • Liaison offices in cities such as San Antonio, Chicago, Los Angeles and Atlanta
  • Attention at border points
  • Comprehensive attention in Guanajuato
  • Providing employment opportunities, training, family assistance and legal services and legal identity

“Migrating is a right, migrating is not a sin, nor is it a crime,” said the Governor of Guanajuato.

As of December 15, 1,144 people had received assistance since the Plan started:

  • 268 were Guanajuatense residents assisted with potential deportations through liaison offices in the US
  • 876 were returned migrants assisted within Guanajuato
  • 82 cases involved repatriated minors directed to basic education
  • 205 were assisted at job fairs
  • 600 received assistance in other areas
  • 67 were assisted through voluntary return
  • 533 through forced return
