From January to May of this year, the accumulated economic impact exceeded 22 billion pesos, 9 percent more than last year

Faced with a challenging global and national environment for the tourism industry, the Government of Guanajuato is working in close coordination with the hotel and tourism sectors of the Capital and the entire State to maintain Guanajuato as a competitive, safe, and growing destination.
The State continues to consolidate its position as one of the country’s most attractive destinations, with a cumulative economic impact of:
- $22.874 billion pesos between January and May 2025
- A 9% increase compared to the same period of last year
Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo instructed the implementation of comprehensive and participatory public policies that strengthen the tourism value chain, improve competitiveness, and promote tax compliance to ensure equitable and sustainable conditions for all participants in the sector and communities.
Currently, a specialized support program for the tourism sector is being prepared, led by the Secretary of Economy and Financier “Tu Puede Guanajuato,” with the goal of effectively supporting service providers at all levels.
Security remains a priority and it has positive results since according to surveys conducted by the Ministry of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), 96.2% of visitors report feeling safe when visiting Guanajuato, thanks to the coordinated work with the Secretary of Security and Peace and the operation of the tourist police.
This approach allows for iconic events such as the International Cervantino Festival, Guanajuato ¡Si Sabe!, Day of the Dead, the Soltero Fest and other events that are famous both national and international to develop successfully, strengthening the economic activity and local identity.
Guanajuato is committed to a common agenda that brings together all sectors and levels of Government to build a strong, sustainable tourism industry with a real impact on communities.
