For the People’s Government, Guanajuatense families residing in the United States are a priority and are not alone, State officials said during a working tour in Chicago, Illinois.

In order to maintain close contact with Guanajuatense migrants living in the United States, and abiding to the directions of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, a delegation of the Government of the People, led by the Secretary of Government, Jorge Daniel Jimenez Lona, with the Secretary of Human Rights, Liz Alejandra Esparza Frausto; Susana Guerra Vallejo, Undersecretary of Attention to Migrants and Mobility of the State Government; and Ana Victoria Torres Martinez, Director General of the Civil Registry, began their visit to the United States.
As a first activity, Officials met with the Mexican Consul General in Chicago, Reyna Torres Mendivil, and exchanged relevant information to support migrants in a more comprehensive and coordinated manner.

The Secretary of Government emphasized that “Governor Libia Dennise has instructed us to bring you a message of support and solidarity, to reach out directly to you, and to let you know that you are not alone; you can count on the People’s Government, and we are working in a committed and coordinated manner with each of the federal and local authorities for your benefit.”
Jorge Jimenez Lona said that in Guanajuato, migrants are protected and work is being done to guarantee their rights and promote their development, and he reaffirmed his ongoing commitment to support them.
Liz Esparza, head of the Secretary of Human Rights, spoke about the actions the People’s Government is taking to support deported migrants through the Assisted Return Plan called “MigranTeQuiero,” which has provided assistance to 657 people to date.
The Consul General of Mexico in Chicago, Reyna Torres Mendivil, acknowledged the attention and support that the People’s Government offers, through the Liaison Office of the Secretary of Human Rights, to the people of Guanajuato residing in that area. Torres Mendivil also reiterated her commitment to work closely with Guanajuato to promote the “MigranTeQuiero” program and activate productive projects that help migrants.

The work tour continued with a visit to the San Bonifacio Center, founded in 1991 in Chicago by Alejandra Menendez, originally from Moroleon. The mission of this center is to promote the personal and collective development of the Latino migrant community through concrete projects focused on health, education, solidarity, and human rights. By strengthening collaborative ties with organizations like the San Bonifacio Center, the People’s Government, through its Liaison Office in Chicago, offers comprehensive support to Guanajuatense migrants.
The first day of this work tour finished with State Officials participating in a celebration at the Yuriria Clubhouse, one of the most deeply rooted Guanajuatense migrant organizations in Chicago, with which they work continuously to disseminate the actions of the People’s Government on behalf of migrants.
