The San Luis de la Paz Mother and Child Hospital reported the birth of triplets, all boys, on June 24. Both the newborns and their 30-year-old mother are reported to be in stable condition.
Health Secretary Gabriel Cortes Alcala reported that the birth occurred via cesarean section on Wednesday morning, and acknowledged the professionalism, effort, and dedication of the medical and nurse staff of this specialized unit.
This is the fourth case of triplets born in this hospital, located at the gateway to the Sierra Gorda region in the northeast of Guanajuato in recent years.
The cases are of families from:
- The first cases are from the communities of San Ignacio and La Soledad, in 2015 and 2016
- The third in a family from the community of La Venta, in San Jose Iturbide
- The most recent case is of a family from San Francisco del Frayle, in San Miguel de Allende
The mother, Maria Andrea Molina Luna, was referred from a private clinic in San Miguel de Allende to this unit in her third month of pregnancy due to her high-risk pregnancy. From then on, Maria received regular prenatal care, with constant monitoring and scheduled appointments, sometimes as often as twice a week.
The newborns, will be named Marcos, Emmanuel, and Isaac—all with the name Guadalupe in honor of the Virgin— and they were born at 34 weeks gestation and are currently receiving care in the Neonatal Intermediate Care Unit. Their birth weights were 1,945 grams, 1,950 grams, and 1,455 grams, respectively.
The children’s father, Miguel Angel Romero, a construction worker, expressed his gratitude to the medical staff for the care his wife received. The family already has two other children, ages 8 and 4.
The San Luis de la Paz Mother and Child Hospital offers specialized services in obstetrics and gynecology, colposcopy, pediatrics, neonatal intensive care and neonatal therapy, as well as maternal-fetal care. It also provides complementary services in psychology, nutrition, early intervention, laboratory testing, and X-rays.
This medical unit serves the population of Xichu, Santa Catarina, Atarjea, San Jose Iturbide, Victoria, Doctor Mora, from the northern zone such as Ocampo, San Felipe, and other municipalities like San Miguel de Allende and Dolores Hidalgo.
The San Luis de Paz Mother and Child Hospital, with 13 years of history serving the population has a workforce of 232 health professionals.
