488 members of the municipal police corporations of Guanajuato are participating in specialized training

To ensure that every woman, adolescent and girl in Guanajuato receives timely and humane support in situations of violence, the People’s Government trained 488 members of the police forces of the 46 municipalities of the State.
Through the workshop “Gender, Violence and National and International Regulatory Framework”, municipal police elements gained practical tools to intervene with empathy, act with a gender perspective and strictly respect human rights.
Itzel Balderas, Secretary of Women, noted that this training responds directly to the actions to address the Declaration of Gender Violence Alert against Women (AVGM) in Guanajuato.
The guidelines mandate the ongoing professional development of police forces in the 17 municipalities with the declaration. Since police departments are the first point of contact for victims, strengthening their capabilities is crucial to provide a rapid, unbiased response focused on preventing femicide.
This strategy is the result of a dynamic alliance between the Secretary for Women and the Secretary of Security and Peace, aimed at building a police force that is better prepared, more sensitive, and closer to the realities of the women of Guanajuato.
“Professionalizing our security forces with a gender perspective is not optional; it is a requirement of justice. With these actions, the People’s Government is providing elements with the tools and knowledge to immediately and effectively protect girls, adolescents, and women in Guanajuato. This is important because in every intervention, the dignity of women must be respected, and revictimization must be avoided,” said Itzel Balderas.
The training day on May 29, achieved the following results in coverage:
- Total trained personnel, 488 public servants
- In-person modality, 139 members
- Virtual modality, 349 members
- Full coverage in the Specialized Units of the 46 municipalities
The program used practical cases and participatory activities. Through this learning, the police officers strengthened their ability to:
- Apply the gender and intersectionality perspective in their daily tasks, understanding the context of each woman
- Identify risk signs and the different forms of violence in order to act timely
- Guide their actions under national and international human rights laws
- Avoid revictimization by ensuring dignified treatment, with legality and due diligence
The People’s Government reaffirmed its commitment to work as a team to prevent violence, specializing those who have the mission of protecting, listening to and caring for the citizens.
