A total of 19 traditional cooks from 12 municipalities were part of the Third Preliminary of the 14th Meeting of Traditional Guanajuato Cuisine ¡Si Sabe! 2026 in Tierra Blanca

The Tourist and Economic Development Center (CENTUDE) in the Encanto town of Tierra Blanca, Guanajuato, welcomed 19 traditional cooks from 12 municipalities of the State, who were part of the Third Preliminary Round of the 14th Guanajuato Traditional Cuisine Encounter ¡Si Sabe! 2026.
The People’s Government of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo and in the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), recognized the Guanajuato Traditional Cuisine Encounter ¡Si Sabe!, as an event that has become one of the most important platforms for the promotion and preservation of Guanajuato’s gastronomy, highlighting the identity, richness, diversity and cultural value of the endemic flavors of the different regions of the State.
In this preliminary stage, 19 traditional cooks from the municipalities of:
- Dolores Hidalgo, Doctor Mora, San Diego de la Union, San Felipe, Victoria, Ocampo, San Jose Iturbide, San Luis de la Paz, Guanajuato, Tierra Blanca, Villagran and Xichu
The participants presented representative dishes from their communities and shared techniques, ingredients and knowledge inherited from generation to generation.
The gastronomic proposals were evaluated by a judging panel, responsible for selecting the most representative dish from each municipality for its participation in the grand final of the Encounter.
Previously, on May 3 and 9, the first two preliminary stages were held in the Encantos de Guanajuato of Canada de Caracheo, in Cortazar, and Nuevo Chupicuaro, in Acambaro, with the participation of 44 traditional cooks representing 28 municipalities of the State.
With this third preliminary round, the first stage of the competition concludes, bringing the total to 63 cooks representing 40 municipalities in Guanajuato.
The grand finale of the 14th Guanajuato Traditional Cuisine Encounter ¡Si Sabe! 2026, will bbe held on May 30th and 31st in the Historic Center of Irapuato, where there will be a cook representing each municipality, in addition to exhibitors of drinks, spirits and handicrafts from all over Guanajuato.
With these actions, the People’s Government, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, strengthens the gastronomic heritage of Guanajuato as a key element for the tourist, economic and cultural development of the state.
