The three venues will feature official, authorized broadcast of 50 matches, giant screens, and activities for the whole family to strengthen tourism promotion, social interaction, and the visibility of the seven regions of Guanajuato

Leon/Gto News

With the official authorized broadcast of 50 matches of the biggest football festival in 2026, the People’s Government, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), will launch the “Fiesta Guanajuato” activation, a strategy that will bring families and visitors closer to the festivities in three locations in the State: Leon, Dolores Hidalgo Cradle of National Independence and Yuriria.

The activation is part of a comprehensive tourism promotion and social outreach strategy developed in coordination with the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico, to consolidate Guanajuato as a competitive, connected destination prepared to integrate into the tourist routes and circuits related to the 2026 World Cup.

Thanks to coordinated efforts with the Federal Tourism Secretary, Guanajuato will have official broadcasts in two Pueblos Magicos (Magical Towns): Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence, and Yuriria. This initiative stems from a national agreement through which participating States secured broadcast rights for authorized public spaces, bringing the World Cup experience to more regions of the country.

The three venues will operate under the “Fiesta Guanajuato” concept, becoming spaces for family gatherings, social cohesion, and regional tourism promotion. In addition to enjoying the World Cup matches in a safe and free environment, attendees will be able to discover the rich tourism, culture, and the identity of the State’s seven regions.

The main venue will be located in:

  • Plaza Expiatorio in Leon, a strategic location due to its high tourist and commercial traffic, with a capacity to accommodate up to 2,500 people
  • In Dolores Hidalgo, the Cradle of National Independence, the broadcasts will take place in the Main Square, with a capacity for 3,000 attendees
  • In Yuriria the Civic Plaza will accommodate up to 500 people per event

The infrastructure installed at each location will allow for a comprehensive experience for families. There will be high-definition LED screens, professional audio, lighting, rest areas with chairs, restrooms, security, continuous cleaning, power generators, protective fencing, and spaces specially designed for tourism promotion and visitor interaction.

As part of the experience, each venue will feature photo opportunities inspired by Guanajuato’s main tourist attractions, encouraging the generation of organic content on social media and strengthening the promotion of the destination among local, national, and international visitors.

During the matches, promotional videos of the State will also be shown before each game, during halftime, and at the end of the broadcasts, reinforcing Guanajuato’s position as one of Mexico’s most important tourist destinations.

The operation will run from June 11 to July 19, 2026, and includes the official broadcast of 50 matches. Of these, 35 are already scheduled, and the remaining 15 will be determined as the competition progresses and the knockout stages are finalized.

Among the most anticipated matches are the opening game between Mexico and South Africa, scheduled for Thursday, June 11 at 1:00 p.m.; the matches of the Mexican National Team against South Korea and Czechia; as well as the grand final of the tournament, which will be played on Sunday, July 19.

In addition to bringing international soccer closer to the population, the project seeks to generate economic benefits for the host communities through increased hotel occupancy, restaurant consumption, local commerce and the arrival of regional visitors, taking advantage of Guanajuato’s strategic location between two of the country’s World Cup venues: Mexico City and Guadalajara.
