Excellent capacity
The capacity of response of its staff and the infrastructure it has, allows for the State Health System to not experience an emergency in hospitals amid the crisis of the Covid 19 pandemic, on the contrary, even with the hospital bed occupancy of 24%, the State Health Secretary reports an excellent capacity to respond and face this 4th wave of contagion.
Doctor Daniel Diaz, Secretary of Health informed that Guanajuato has an infrastructure much above the quality of any of the 32 States of Mexico.

15 General Hospitals
4 Maternity hospitals
One mobile hospital

The General and Specialized Hospitals have:
- 357 doctor’s offices
- 64 surgery rooms
- 32 birth rooms
Continuing services
Amid the pandemic, the network of medical services in the second level attention hospitals continues.
In 2021 in the January-July period in the General Hospitals of Penjamo, San Luis de La Paz and Valle de Santiago there were 50 thousand medical consultations.
Acambaro and Irapuato
In the General Hospitals at Acambaro and Irapuato there were more than 86 thousand emergency events in the same period.
Six thousand babies were born in that period in the General Hospitals of Penjamo, San Luis de la Paz, Valle de Santiago, Acambaro and Irapuato.
Attention to mothers
While the mothers attention hospitals in Celaya and Irapuato reported 60 thousand medical consultations and urgencies in the period.
Finally Daniel Diaz said that the Pediatrics Hospital in Leon reported 21,525 specialties consultations, and 25 thousand at the Integral Attention Center of Mental Health.
