Roberto Garcia Urbano, mayor of Purisima del Rincon, received the award “Best Tourism Villages”, for the Magic Town of Jalpa de Canovas, in the 25th General Assembly of the World Tourism Organization, based in Samarcanda, Uzbekistan.
The award was accepted by Mayor of Purisima del Rincon from Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary General of the World Tourism Organization -WTO-.
Roberto Garcia Urbano confirmed his appreciation for having Jalpa de Canovas considered internationally and that it is working on its environmental, cultural and social environment and its sustainable updating without losing its historical essence, in a work shared by the Municipality of Purisima del Rincon and the Government of Guanajuato.
Garcia Urbano said that “today we have an award, with the commitment of increasing the work they are doing for the transendence of all its people, today it is in the international touristic scene, that includes the cultural, social part and the essence of Purisimenses, who keep showing their talent and trajectory because we make an effort to transcend, we have already done it in culture and in sports, today the international reconnaissance comes from Purisima, from the Magic Town for all the world and it will impact us in all the tourism corridor”.
Present in the ceremony was Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, who noted the attributes and joint work with the municipality to highlight the work on sustainability, infrastructure, connectivity, promotion, conservation of the cultural patrimony and natural touristic development, innovation, integration of the value chain, health, security, governance and prioritizing of tourism, which were considered for Jalpa de Canovas to be awarded the international emblem.
“Best Tourism Villages” is an initiative that recognizes the towns that are noted examples of rural tourism destinations with recognized cultural and natural values that preserve and promote the values, products and rural and community lifestyle.
Awarded are the tourism destinations that maintain a commitment with sustainability in three spheres: economic, social and environmental, as they promote tourism as an engine of rural development and the well being of communities.
In the third edition of the international call in which 260 files were presented, 54 destinations from the world were granted this seal for making of tourism the engine of rural transformation and development.
Of the 54 destinations, three are Mexican among which is Guanajuato with the Magic Town, Jalpa de Cánovas, in Purisima del Rincon, which given its strategic location makes it a tourist destination you can’t miss in tourist routes of the kind of business, adventure, hacienda and places of historic importance related to the Cristera War; and which thanks to its warm people, the gastronomy, history, architecture, the work in sustainability, inclusion and more than anything its rural treasures, that make of this Magic Town an attractive destination.
“Tourism is a route for economic reactivation, the evolution and consolidation of the sector”, said Governor Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, and his administration has served the Magic Towns as one of the priorities of his Administration, so that the destinations in Guanajuato are in the vanguard of the trends in the market.
With this award, Jalpa de Canovas, Guanajuato is in the international scope with a recognition as a noted example of a rural tourism destination, as it contributes to the Network Best Tourism Villages of the World Tourism Organization –WTO-, commiting with sustainability.
