Opening a business from home, buying the first tool, selling the first product, or believing that an idea can become your own project are decisions that change the course of a family to build new opportunities.

Ivon Padilla Hernandez, General Director of Financiera y Apoyos Tu Puedes Guanajuato, said that, with Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo’s vision that no one should be left behind, the Initial Entrepreneur Workshop was held for people from the municipalities of Abasolo and Huanimaro, so that they learned the necessary tools to make their projects more solid.

“No business is born by chance. Behind every business there is a story of perseverance, a skill learned over the years, and someone who decided to turn their talent into a way to get ahead,” said Padilla.

“We know who we are here for. We are here for the women who never stop fighting for their families and for the young people who want to make their way through their work. You remind us that the best ideas are born when someone dares to believe in themselves,” she said.

Attendees gained knowledge about basic administration, customer service, and business organization, as well as reflecting on the importance of trust, perseverance, and decision-making to face the challenges of entrepreneurship.

Padilla Hernandez acknowledged the value of those who decide to bet on their abilities and recalled that the People’s Government maintains its commitment to reach communities where opportunities make a difference in daily life.

Ivon explained that the Initial Entrepreneur Workshop is part of the seventh stage of the “We Believe in You” program during 2026 and is mainly aimed at women aged 18 to 59 and young people aged 18 to 30 who are looking to start a productive activity or grow the one they already do.

“Each project has a different pace, but they all begin with a decision. We provide guidance, tools, and close support so that this effort finds a solid path. Working as a team, we are unstoppable,” she said.

Basilisa Gomez Acosta, known to her family and friends as “Licha”, was the testimony that inspired the attendees of the Initial Entrepreneur Workshop held in Abasolo.

Losing her job forced her to look for a new opportunity. She decided to turn a lifelong skill into her source of income: making handmade tortillas and selling them through social media.

“I said: if I know how to make tortillas, then I’ll start making tortillas. I posted it on social media and it took off,” she said. “They really motivated us to move forward, to believe in ourselves,” she said.

With the financing she received, Basilisa bought a tortilla-making machine and a larger-capacity griddle, tools that changed the way she works. “Now I have more product and I finish my orders faster,” she explained, noting that today she can serve more customers and gradually grow her business thanks to her increased production capacity.

“Believe in this project because it really helps and benefits us a lot. Believe in yourselves; where there’s a will, there’s a way, and yes, it can be done,” she said.
