Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, led the launch of Operation San Cristobal 2026, a comprehensive strategy involving more than 24,954 women and men from all three levels of government, with the objective of guaranteeing public order, security and peace for Guanajuatense families and those who visit the State during the Holy Week and Easter season.

From the esplanade of the C5i, the State Governor noted that this operation is one of the greatest examples of institutional coordination in Guanajuato, by combining the efforts of Municipal, State and Federal agencies, as well as emergency services and organized society.

“We are here to protect you, to take care of you, to value the best we have in Guanajuato, which is the life, integrity and peace of our families,” the Governor said.

The deployment includes:

  • Permanent surveillance on highways, tourist areas, religious sites, historical centers, dams, resorts and crowded areas
  • With the support of more than 6,200 units and specialized equipment such as ambulances, boats and helicopters

The Governor said that the strategy is being built with the active participation of all 46 municipalities, State forces, the Army, the National Guard, and prosecutors, allowing for a timely and effective response to any eventuality.

“Operation San Cristobal is synonymous with teamwork, all of them, a great team ready to take care of those we love most,” the head of the State Government.

Secretary of Security and Peace, Juan Mauro Gonzalez Martinez, emphasized that this joint effort reflects real coordination between institutions:

“More than 24,000 members of the three levels of government will be working in a coordinated manner, this is not a lesser issue, this is called real coordination,” he said.

Gonzalez added that security depends not only on institutional deployment, but also on shared social responsibility: “No operation can replace personal responsibility. Every decision counts, taking care of ourselves is also a way of taking care of others.”

The Governor called on the public to act responsibly to prevent accidents and risky situations. In particular, she asked people to avoid swimming in open bodies of water.

“Our dams and our rivers are not for swimming; let’s not allow a moment of fun turn into a tragedy,” the Governor warned.

Libia urged people to check the condition of their vehicles before traveling, always wear your seat belts, avoid drinking and driving, don’t drive when tired, and take extra precautions with children during the holiday period; the Governor also urged people to prevent forest fires by avoiding poorly extinguished campfires and to make responsible use of the 911 emergency and the 089 anonymous reporting lines.
