With an investment of $183 million and the projected creation of 600 jobs, AutoZone began construction of a new Distribution Center in Leon, a project that will strengthen its logistics capacity to meet the demand of the Bajio and the region.
The announcement comes at a time of expansion for the company, which this year reached 1,000 stores in Mexico, and is part of a strategy to expand its distribution infrastructure in the country.
The new complex in Leon will be located in the PILBA Industrial Park (Leon-Bajio Industrial Platform) and will strengthen the availability of products and the supply capacity of the company for its stores, workshops and customers in the region.
With this investment, AutoZone reaffirms its trust in Guanajuato and expands its presence and operations in the State, incorporating Leon into its growth and logistics strengthening strategy.
From the perspective of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, projects like AutoZone reflect the conditions that Guanajuato is building to strengthen its logistics vocation and attract investments linked to strategic sectors.
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, pointed out that the arrival of this project strengthens Leon’s position within the logistics corridors of the Central part of Mexico and confirms Guanajuato’s potential to host operations that serve regional and national markets.
The AutoZone project is part of the Guanajuato Suma strategy, the State’s new economic policy with a vision towards 2050, which aims to strengthen Guanajuato’s productive capacities, infrastructure and connectivity to create conditions that allow companies to grow and expand their operations.
The arrival of this investment also contributes to strengthen the infrastructure and logistical capabilities that Guanajuato requires to consolidate itself as a strategic point for companies and their supply chains.
With the addition of AutoZone’s $183 million, the total investment completed and announced during the current State administration reaches $6,739.87 million, a figure that represents 84.25 percent of the six-year goal of $8 billion.
With the new Distribution Center, AutoZone expands its presence in Guanajuato and strengthens, from Leon, a logistics network that will support the company’s next stage of growth in Mexico, while adding new work opportunities for families in Guanajuato.
