Guanajuato strengthens its energy infrastructure

The energy strategy is part of the new economic policy Guanajuato Suma, to strengthen competitiveness and to boost investment and growth

The State has a portfolio of 14 energy projects representing an investment of $1.946 billion

With Guanajuato Suma, the State strengthens the necessary conditions to support the growth of its companies, attract new investments and generate more opportunities for its people, through an energy strategy that boosts the State’s infrastructure and productive capacity.

The state currently has a portfolio of 14 energy projects, representing a combined estimated investment of $1.946 billion and an additional capacity of 1,728 megawatts.

These projects are located in municipalities such as:

• Salamanca, San Felipe, San Diego de la Union, Doctor Mora, Romita, San Miguel de Allende, San Luis de la Paz, Dolores Hidalgo, Manuel Doblado, Celaya, Silao, and Irapuato

This portfolio includes various technologies of generation of energy, including:

• Photovoltaics, geothermal, cogeneration and combined cycle
• They contribute to diversify the energy matrix and strengthen the State’s capacity to meet the needs of a growing industrial economy

For Guanajuato, having sufficient, reliable energy with a vision of sustainability is a fundamental factor in providing certainty to companies seeking to establish or expand their operations, particularly in strategic sectors such as automotive, manufacturing, and new technologies.

This linkage is especially relevant for micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, which represent 99.8% of the State’s economic units and generate more than 70% of formal employment, making local supply a fundamental component of the economic development strategy.

This vision is part of Guanajuato Suma, the new economic policy promoted by the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, which understands energy not only as infrastructure, but as a necessary condition for companies to grow, for new investments to arrive, and for economic development to become prosperity for our people.

The Secretary of Economy, led by Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, is working on the articulation of this strategy so that Guanajuato maintains its competitiveness and has the necessary conditions to face the challenges of an increasingly global and technological economy.
