Guanajuato is breaking new ground and consolidating itself as one of the most competitive wine regions in Mexico by positioning itself as the State with the highest number of medals, winning 26 for Mexico at the Bacchus International Wine Competition Madrid 2026, one of the most important competitions in the world.}

The prizes:

  • All 26 medals are granted to Guanajuato
  • Mexico won a total of 83 medals
  • Including 1 Grand Gold Bacchus
  • 18 Gold Bacchus
  • 7 Silver Bacchus

This result takes on greater significance when considering that the State has approximately 600 hectares of vineyards, equivalent to 6% of the national wine-producing area, a priority in the People’s Government led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

Guanajuato’s performance reflects a growing industry with high standards of quality, innovation, and international projection, driven by coordinated work between producers, winemakers, and the entire wine value chain.

These awards were the result of the work of 10 wineries in Guanajuato:

  • Bodegas Vega Manchon (Cuna de Tierra), Bodega de Vino San Miguel de Allende, Vinedo San Isidro, Tres Raices, San Jose La Vista, Cavas Manchon, Dos Buhos, La Santa Vid, Puente Josefa and Vinedos San Lucas (Carrend)

These wineries through their participating labels, position Guanajuato as a benchmark of quality in the Mexican wine.

The Bacchus International Competition, endorsed by the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) and organized by the Spanish Union of Tasters (UEC), brings together labels from all over the world that are evaluated by an international jury of more than 1,500 experts, which positions this recognition as a global benchmark of quality.

These results consolidate Guanajuato not only as a relevant player in wine production in Mexico, but as a region that competes with international standards, strengthening its position in the global market.

The growth of the wine sector in Guanajuato also drives the development of wine tourism, generating experiences that integrate wine, gastronomy, identity and territory, and which translate into more economic opportunities for the communities.

Guanajuato confirms that, with vision, quality and joint work, it is possible to open new paths to the world, taking the name of the State to the top of the international stage of food and wine tourism.
