Guanajuato once again demonstrates its winemaking quality; its vineyards and wines delight visitors, and this national award is proof of that

Guanajuato reaffirms its tourism leadership by consolidating itself as the winner in the category “Best Wine Region of Mexico” in the tenth edition of the Food and Travel Mexico Reader Awards 2025, in addition to standing out with more nominations for this important national recognition.

This achievement positions Guanajuato as a benchmark in wine and food tourism, driven by the quality of its wines, the consolidation of its vineyards and the comprehensive experience it offers to national and international visitors, in line with the vision of the People’s Government led by Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

The Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon, noted that this recognition confirms the strength of the destination and the positioning of its experiences.

“Guanajuato is now consolidating its position as a leading wine region in Mexico; this recognition reflects the value of our experiences and the identity that distinguishes us,” he said. 

Robles said that these results are a result of a consistent tourism promotion strategy focused on projecting Guanajuato in high-value markets.

“From the Secretary we work every day to open new paths, positioning Guanajuato with a solid, competitive tourism offer and with experiences that connect with the world,” said Robles.

The awards ceremony was held at the International Convention Center, where the SECTURI team, with Mayor of San Miguel de Allende, Mauricio Trejo Pureco, was present.

The head of tourism and identity noted that these awards originate from the work of those who make up the tourism value chain.

“These achievements are built on the effort of our people, who every day provide excellent service and make Guanajuato a place to be experienced and remembered,” said Robles Leon. 

The Food and Travel Reader Awards have established themselves as one of the most important recognitions in the sector, by integrating the evaluation of hospitality experts with the vote of 50,000 direct voters from the public, reflecting the real preference of travelers. 

Guanajuato strengthens its position as a comprehensive destination that combines wine, gastronomy, culture and high-level hospitality, generating economic development for communities and people in the tourism sector, consolidating its presence on the national and international tourism map.
