“In the People’s Government, supporting women means strengthening families, recognizing their daily work, and opening up more opportunities for them to live with independence, security, well-being, and their own time,” said Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

Libia Dennise presented her broadcast Connecting with the People, dedicated to the actions and programs promoted by the State Administration in favor of women, on the occasion of Mother’s Day.

“It is you, with your strength, your drive, your leadership and your desire to get ahead, who inspire us every day to continue giving our best,” the Governor expressed in a message of recognition to the mothers of Guanajuato.

Libia Dennise pointed out that, for the first time, Guanajuato has a female Governor, a gender-balanced cabinet, and a Women’s Secretary, which allows women to be placed at the center of public decisions.

“A government that for the first time has a female Governor could not be a government that did not also put women at the center,” said the Governor.

Libioa Dennise noted the Aliadas strategy, which integrates 27 programs of 15 state agencies, grouped into themes such as:

  • Economy, health and sports, care, education and safe living

The Secretary of the New Beginning, Rosario Corona Amador, reported that the Pink Card strengthens the economic independence of women, with support of 6,000 pesos per year and additional benefits for them and their families.

Corona said that this year progress is being made in delivering cards, with more than 645,000 women registered and a goal of close to 690,000 beneficiaries, in addition to services such as medical, legal, roadside, home and funeral assistance.

“Never before in the history of Guanajuato has there been a program like this aimed at women and such a large support program for so many beneficiaries,” said Governor Libia Dennise.

The Secretary for Women, Itzel Balderas Hernandez, noted the importance of recognizing the work that women do, often without pay, and which limits their opportunities to study, work, or fully develop.

“Women in Guanajuato dedicate up to 44 hours a week to caregiving; this prevents us from being able to study, find work, or have formal employment,” explained Balderas.

Balderas Hernandez said that the People’s Government is promoting a Comprehensive Care System to move towards a fairer distribution of responsibilities at home.

She also noted that Guanajuato offers free, professional, and confidential care for women experiencing violence, as well as safe shelters for them, their children, and dependents.

The General Director of the State Sports Commission, Yendy Cortinas Lopez, presented the progress of Allies for Physical Activity and Sport, a program that has 51 women allies in 38 municipalities, who constantly activate more than 2,300 people, mainly women.

“In addition to helping us with health benefits, physical activity is also generating community, support groups and a sense of belonging,” said Yendy Cortinas.

“Let this not only be a recognition of us as women and as mothers on this day, but let us truly move forward towards equal rights, full recognition of the work done by mothers, and an equitable distribution of childcare and household chores,” said the Governor.

Rosario Corona also highlighted the role of the New Beginning Centers, spaces where women find workshops, training, sports activities, psychological support and tools to start businesses.

“They are vibrant spaces for learning, participation, and community support,” she said, noting that these centers offer workshops in pastry making, baking, beauty, sewing, cooking, crafts, entrepreneurship, Zumba, yoga, and cultural activities.
