“Today Guanajuato is once again a national reference in planning with the presentation of this Plan and is once again a protagonist with citizen participation”, said Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, as he presented the State Development Plan -PED- 2050.
The Plan is a guiding instrument for the comprehensive development of the State over 25 years that, in this Administration, began its updating process in January 2023.
“In Guanajuato we like to practice collective leadership, that has been the formula for our development and today we are proving it once again”, said the Governor.
Rodriguez Vallejo confirmed that the success of Guanajuato in these 30 years has been planning, citizen participation and continuity in public policies, where planning is having a vision and a path to achieve it collectively.
“Today the people of Guanajuato once again demonstrate that we are a brave State prepared to conquer the future; not only are we visionaries, we also work to achieve our goals and make the dreams of many families come true”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
The State Development Plan 2050, he said, is a legacy for future generations that responds to new local, national and global circumstances.
This is a plan that will prepare Guanajuato residents for new changes and the use of technological advances from a long-term perspective on critical issues such as:
- Climate change, water, biodiversity, Industry 5.0, energy sustainability and mobility
The Plan also strengthens compliance with the Sustainable Development Goals -SDGs- and privileges the focus on human rights and a government open to strategies and programs with society.
“I am sure that this State Development Plan 2050 will be the guide to continue building the future, prosperity, sustainability and quality of life for the people of Guanajuato. I invite the people of Guanajuato to learn about this valuable document, to look into the future of our state”, said the Governor.
The Coordinator of the Update Process of the Guanajuato 2050 State Development Plan, Eduardo Sojo Garza-Aldape, said that Guanajuato can and must become a reliable State, and the Plan is a tool with strategies and actions that offer meaning to the work of Guanajuatenses, with indicators and goals that will show if they are moving in the right direction.
“We know that when we have a clear direction we can achieve many things, like the tool that Iplaneg proposes today, with control of destiny, and hand in hand with the governments that guide our course,” said Sojo.
The General Director of the Institute of Planning, Statistics and Geography of Guanajuato -Iplaneg-, Graciela de la Luz Amaro Hernandez, presented the findings of the investigations to begin updating the PED, offered by agencies and institutions, that reviewed and updated essential information for Guanajuato.
Amaro said that a citizen support group was formed with 36 representatives from various State agencies and institutions to go deep into key elements, provide follow-up and continuity to the strategies.
In the update of the PED towards 2050, 5 Development Pillars were identified, from which objectives, strategies, projects, programs and actions derive.
The 5 Development Pillars are:
- 1. Inclusive, resilient and supportive society. Whose goal is to increase the quality of life of the population
- 2. Dynamic and sustainable economy. With the aim of increasing quality jobs in line with the new era of labor
- 3. New governance. With the objective of ensuring the effectiveness, efficiency and transparency of government management
- 4. Society of knowledge. With the aim of strengthening the knowledge economy in Guanajuato and guaranteeing connectivity and the digital transition
- 5. Regenerative Environments. The objective of which is to ensure environmental sustainability, the protection of biodiversity and guarantee the availability of water in Guanajuato
The Governor was in this event with Officials of his Administration, the Mayor of Leon, Alejandra Gutierrez Campos, former Governors of Guanajuato and representatives of the Judicial and Legislative Powers, besides representatives of business, academic and civil society organizations.
