Governor of Guanajuato Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo confirmed his support for the University of Guanajuato and recognized the importance of the most important University in Guanajuato for the education offer that meets the needs of economic and social development of Guanajuato and of Mexico.
The Governor was at the welcoming ceremony for the courses of the academic year of the Colmena Universitaria, and the presentation of the activities report of Dean Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino.
“The start of a new course is also the start of new opportunities. It is the door to continue advancing and climbing towards our development. With unity and dialogue, you have projected a community that vibrates with the drive and enthusiasm of youth,” said Rodriguez Vallejo.
The num bers at the University of Guanajuato:
- 46 thousand 417 students
- 16 thousand 117 in high school
- 30 thousand 300 in the higher level
- 194 education programs in high school, bachelor’s, University, specialty, master’s and doctorate
- 227 training opportunities
- 3 thousand 288 academic staff
- 2,978 managerial and administrative staff
- 424 foreign students and students from States of Mexico
- 398 academic collaboration agreements
The Dean of the UG, Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino noted the 2 percent increase in enrollment compared to the previous cycle.
“This is a great University and each person builds it, generation after generation and it is being renewed, because that is its nature and from each trench it is up to us to give ourselves to this great project”, said Guerrero Agripino.
Recognitions to UG:
- 96 percent of the educational degree programs can be evaluated for their quality
- “Phoenix Recognition”, granted to UG as a model of educational excellence and social responsibility in Mexico by the Council for the Accreditation of Higher Education, AC (COPAES)
- The UG Digital Campus, the first multi-campus and multimodal venue, located in the new UG Zone, formerly the Hotel Guanajuato
- 15 educational programs offered.
- UG Silao University Unit started as an institutional model that will extend to other cities
- 20 thousand 693 scholarships, support and incentives
- 16.6 percent increase
- 172 million pesos in scholarships
