The excellent geographical location and road and air connectivity of Guanajuato allows Mexicans and foreigners to enjoy the great events held in Guanajuato and those planned for the summer.
One of them is the “Vive Leon Verano Festival”, an event to be held from July 28 to August 13 and which was presented to the media in Mexico City, by Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato; Alejandra Gutierrez, Mayor of Leon; David Novoa, president of the Board of the Comitee of the Leon Fair; and Hector Tejada, president of CONCANACO, among other City Authorities.
“The Government of Guanajuato recognizes Leon as a host of great events and a constant city in the organization of festivals and fairs. At SECTUR we are happy to be with you because we are convinced that tourism is one of the activities that strengthens the economic development of Guanajuato and the integration of society”, said Alvarez Brunel.
The Festival is a product that was born in the times of the Covid 19 pandemic, with the aim of reactivating the economy and strengthening family ties. Since last year, the event has stood out for its free entry and 80% of the diversity activities for girls and boys.
In this 2023 edition, the organizing committee estimates that more than 829 thousand attendees will come to the festival and that they will leave an economic benefit of more than 499 million pesos.
And during the festival period, the city of Leon expects:
- Receive 352 thousand visitors
- More than 3% compared to the year 2022
- A hotel occupancy of 54%
- More than 4% compared to 2022
- An economic income of more than 826 million pesos
- 12% more compared to the year 2021
Besides the national routes, international flights from Dallas, Los Angeles, Chicago, Houston, Oakland, Sacramento, San Jose, Fresno, San Antonio by American Airlines and United Airlines also arrive at the Guanajuato International Airport.
The easy road access and the proximity that the State of Guanajuato has with Mexico City, Queretaro, Aguascalientes, Jalisco and San Luis Potosi, mainly, will also allow visitors from these destinations to take advantage of this period to visit Leon.
Guanajuato is consolidated as a destination that offers the whole family events and destinations that promote the gastronomic, cultural, sports, adventure and nature, well-being, MICE, romance, spirits and wine tourism segments, among others.
