The President of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, and the Governor of Guanajuato, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, highlighted the coordination off the Federal and State governments to address the main needs of Guanajuato and deliver results for its residents.
The State Governor acknowledged the President’s willingness to work as a team and assured that institutional collaboration has allowed progress on priority issues for Guanajuatense families.
“We have demonstrated from this State that results can be achieved when we put aside our differences and focus on what is truly important,” said Libia Dennise.
During the morning press conference held at the XII Military Region in Irapuato, the President said that political differences have not prevented the construction of agreements on security, education, infrastructure, and the water project for the State.
“The coordination we’ve had with the Governor on all issues has truly been excellent. You know we come from two different political parties, but that doesn’t prevent us from coordinating on absolutely everything,” said the President of Mexico.
Regarding security, the President reported that Guanajuato has registered a 73 percent reduction in intentional homicides, a result she attributed to the joint work of Federal and State authorities, from addressing the causes to investigating and arresting those who generate violence.
The Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico, Omar Garcia Harfuch, reported that, from October 1, 2024 to August 31, 2026, more than 10,600 people were arrested, including 172 priority targets who generate violence in Guanajuato.
Garcia Harfuch also acknowledged the coordination with State authorities and the specialized capabilities developed in Guanajuato to combat crimes such as extortion and kidnapping, prevent them, investigate cases, and provide support to victims.
Federal and State Authorities agreed that these advances do not represent a completed task, so they will maintain coordination and operations against criminal groups and the activities that sustain their operational capacity.
President Claudia Sheinbaum acknowledged the urgent need to address the water supply for Leon and confirmed that there is a joint effort underway with Governor Libia Dennise to develop a comprehensive solution and advance the comprehensive Water for Guanajuato project.
The Government of the State of Guanajuato reaffirmed its willingness to continue working in coordination with the Government of Mexico to build a comprehensive and long-term solution that guarantees the water supply for Leon and other regions of the State.
The President explained that dialogue continues with the communities involved and that work is underway to reach the necessary agreements before defining the alternative that will guarantee the water supply, prioritizing that no community is affected.
The President confirmed that progress continues on the modernization of Irrigation District 011, one of the fundamental components of the comprehensive strategy to make more efficient and sustainable use of water.
Later, the Governor of Guanajuato accompanied the President of Mexico to the “Honesty and Results” event, an accountability exercise following the 2nd Federal Government Report.
“Thank you, President, for being here in our land, for extending a hand, for working together, for understanding that it is by working as a team that results are achieved for our people,” said Libia Dennise.
At the Ecoforum of Celaya, the President of Mexico outlined the federal works and projects underway in the State. “In Guanajuato, we are a pluralistic state, where all voices are heard. I am here not for applause, but to continue working for Guanajuato. To demonstrate what two women who love Mexico and who love Guanajuato can accomplish,” said the Governor.
