The State Government supports Guanajuato migrants who worked in the US to process their pension

Year after year, Guanajuatense migrants from different municipalities of the State, carried out the corresponding procedure to access the “Federal Social Security Benefits” program and obtain an economic pension for life by having worked in the USA.
Juan Hernandez, head of the SMEI explained that with the support of personnel from the United States Embassy in Mexico, personnel served older adults from municipalities like:
- Silao, Romita, Guanajuato, Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, Juventino Rosas, Comonfort, Irapuato and Manuel Doblado
“For this reason, the Governor of the State Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo created this Secretary and helped us get these offices, to provide migrants with the service they deserve”, said Juan Hernandez.
He said that this program is aimed at those who have worked for more than 10 years in the United States and have a social security number from that country, with which they can access an economic pension from the American Union.
Such is the case of Mr. Antonio, who went to the facilities of the Secretary for Migrants to carry out this procedure, after having contributed for more than 10 years in the social security of the neighboring country.
“I came to process my papers, for my retirement in the United States, they treated me very well and the best thing was that I qualified, there was no problem. This money will come to me for the rest of my life, I already went to that country to provide my service and now that they provide this service to me there, I am very happy”, said Antonio.
Some of the basic requirements to apply for and begin the process of the pension are:
- Be over 62 years old
- Have a resident card
- United States Social Security number
- Original birth certificate
- INE
