FITUR, the Guanajuato State Tourism Observatory, and Guanajuato.mx reflect a policy that opens up information and strengthens the industry

The Guanajuato State Tourism and Identity Secretary (SECTURI) received recognition from the Transparency Unit of the Executive Branch of the State of Guanajuato (UTAPE) for actions that transform public information into a tool to strengthen promotion, competitiveness, and decision-making within the tourism industry.
The agency led by Maria Guadalupe Robles Leon was recognized for three practices of Transparency with Social Purpose:
- FITUR, International Tourism Fair of Madrid, Spain
- The Guanajuato State Tourism Observatory
- Guanajuato.mx, Opens New Paths
“Our Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, has asked us to build a People’s Government that is transparent and puts information at the service of the people. In tourism, this also means generating open, useful, and reliable data so that our industry can make better decisions, attract investment, and continue growing,” said Robles Leon regarding the awards.
One of these recognitions corresponds to Guanajuato’s participation in FITUR, one of the major international meetings of the tourism industry, which brings together destinations, companies, operators, agencies, organizations and professionals of the sector every year in Madrid.
The State’s presence at this showcase allows it to promote its offer to international markets, foster trade relationships, and position its destinations, experiences, and identity with strategic players in the global tourism industry.
The second award goes to the Guanajuato State Tourism Observatory, one of the State’s main tourism intelligence tools. Its function is to measure, analyze, and interpret the sector’s evolution using indicators that provide insights into visitor behavior, economic impact, hotel occupancy, connectivity, market profiles, and other key elements for tourism planning.
This information allows hotels, restaurants, service providers, event organizers, municipalities, investors, universities, and business owners to better understand market behavior and have the information they need to guide investments, design products, adjust promotional strategies, and anticipate trends.
In addition to these tools, there is Guanajuato.mx, Abre Nuevos Caminos, a platform that concentrates and projects the State’s tourism offer and connects visitors with destinations, experiences, events and products from the different regions of Guanajuato.
Furthermore, SECTURI received the PDP UTAPE 2026 Personal Data Protection Distinction, after demonstrating that 100 percent of its staff had been trained in this area. This recognition highlights the institution’s commitment to the proper handling and protection of personal data.
