September represents a celebration of Guanajuato’s history, roots, and Mexican identity. The State consolidates an agenda of civic, cultural, artistic, and gastronomic activities that strengthen the tourism offer of its destinations and generate new opportunities for those involved in the value chain.
For the People’s Government and the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), it is recognized that the Patriotic Holidays make Guanajuato a particularly attractive destination during this month, with celebrations that recover traditions and cultural expressions that are part of the history of Mexico and that, at the same time, allow visitors and families to enjoy the gastronomy, crafts, music and experiences of the different municipalities.
It is estimated that in September the State will receive more than 2 million visitors, including tourists and day-trippers, with an average hotel occupancy of 40 percent, which will allow for greater tourist mobility and an economic benefit distributed among different sectors and regions.
Dolores Hidalgo, where Mexico screams for freedom again
Among the destinations that take on special relevance during these dates is Dolores Hidalgo, Cradle of National Independence, where every year one of the most emblematic celebrations in the history of Mexico is revived.
The invitation is to experience the Call of Independence from a place deeply linked to the origin of our homeland and where the celebration maintains a particular character.
The celebration in Dolores Hidalgo also has a distinctive characteristic: it is experienced at street level, alongside the people. It’s not just about observing the civic ceremony from a distance, but about walking, interacting, and feeling the pride of being Guanajuatense and being Mexican.
September becomes an opportunity to learn about the history of Guanajuato from its own territories and enjoy an agenda that unites heritage, culture, gastronomy, tradition and celebration .

Because here the Grito de Dolores is celebrated like nowhere else. Here our nation was born. Here our people take to the streets; our celebrations in Dolores happen right there in the streets, with the people.
An identity that also generates tourism
The richness of the National Holidays allows visitors not only to participate in the celebrations, but also to explore destinations, consume local products and discover new experiences.
For the tourism sector, this season represents an opportunity to strengthen the local economy and extend the benefits of tourism activity to hotels, restaurants, shops, service providers, transporters, artisans and producers.
Through the Guanajuato SUMA strategy, the aim is to bring together destinations, experiences, sectors, and communities to strengthen the tourism offer and create conditions that allow each celebration to also translate into opportunities for our people.
