With the First Harvest Festival of Vina del Gran Padre, celebrated in the community of El Durazno, the Guanajuato Harvest Festivals 2026 began, one of the most anticipated seasons of the State’s tourism and wine calendar.
From August 1 to October 18, 16 harvest festivals will be held in the municipalities of Dolores Hidalgo, San Miguel de Allende, San Felipe and Silao, where local, national and international visitors can enjoy experiences that combine wine, gastronomy, culture, nature and identity.
During the start of this season, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, Lupita Robles Leon, noted that the grape harvests represents the culmination of the work done throughout the year in the vineyards and constitute a celebration that recognizes the effort of those who participate in the wine production chain.
“Today we raise a toast to our land, to our producers, and to a Guanajuato that is consolidating itself as a wine territory, strengthening its identity and opening new paths,” said Robles.
Currently, Guanajuato ranks fourth nationally in wine production and fifth in wine grape production. The state boasts 82 winemaking projects, 27 vineyards and wineries offering tourism, more than 80 wine tourism experiences, and an annual production exceeding 1.6 million bottles.
To date, the wine industry in Guanajuato has produced more than 165 labels and has received 658 national and international awards, consolidating the State as one of the main benchmarks of Mexican wine.
This harvest season is expected to bring more than 17,100 visitors, benefiting tourism service providers, producers, artisans and local businesses.
Among this year’s most outstanding achievements are:
- The recognition of San Miguel de Allende as the Best Wine Region in Mexico by Food & Travel magazine
- The naming of Vinedo San Miguel as the Best Winery in Mexico by the Mexican Sommeliers Association
- The recognition of Gran Pago Ricardo Vega wine as the Best Wine of Mexico at the Brussels World Competition
It was also announced that Guanajuato will host the First International Gala of the Brussels World Competition on November 29 and 30, an unprecedented event that will bring together producers, specialists, buyers and leaders of the wine industry from more than 55 countries in the State.
With the start of the Guanajuato 2026 Wine Harvest Festival, the People’s Government reaffirmed its commitment to strengthen the wine industry, boosting tourism, and promoting experiences that generate economic development and well-being for Guanajuatense families.
