A commercial mission of Italy and Guanajuato agro-food producers is presented by COFOCE
The trade mission in Guanajuato has as its main objective to take more of Guanajuato to the world

COFOCE presented in a press conference the objective of the visit of Italian officials and businessmen to several municipalities in Guanajuato, as part of a trade mission.
Levantia and Evergreen, are Italian companies that are working to open commercial opportunities between Guanajuato and Italy, especially in the agro-food sector.
“We have greatly intensified the commercial relationship with Italy, especially in the last 3 years, certainly the pandemic slowed down the dynamism that we brought a little, but precisely the area of complementarity is seen in many issues, it is true that although we are supporting a mission for the aerospace sector next May in Italy, we are very focused on the food area”, said Luis Rojas Director of COFOCE.
One of the projected programs is Mapy México, which is a commercial mission of Italian farmers and producers with producers from Guanajuato in search of the production of radicchio, broccoli, asparagus, pumpkin and zucchini.
During this mission the Italian Delegation visited producers from:
- San Miguel de Allende, Romita, Penjamo, Villagran, Cortazar and Irapuato
In addition to production, they seek for the implementation of new technology, new ideas and alliances that strengthen both countries in the agro-food sector.
“Guanajuato has all the opportunities in the industrial sector, in the agro-food sector and in tourism, which are the three most important sectors in the economy, and also and the most important, the presence of COFOCE for us is a guarantee, because when you have allies who give you quick answers like statistics, these are the things that make the difference. The work of COFOCE, the results they are having throughout Mexico, the presence of an organization, so important and above all so efficient,” said Massimiliano Gambini, Director of Confesercenti per Iinternazionalizzazione.
Another of the projects that are being visualized is Chao Mexico where it would be a Show Room of Italian products produced in Guanajuato, such as Radicchio among others and in this way, increase the export of this product to other neighboring countries of Mexico.
“We as a company, greatly appreciate the possibility of this production project, and the main reason is to shorten the distance we have from Italy to Mexico, the United States, Canada, then we are seeing this possibility of having joint production with Mexican producers,” said Marco Pacifico, CEO of Evergreen Group.
Exports from Guanajuato to Italy increased 5.9 percent from January to October 2023 compared to the same period of the previous year.
Guanajuato exported 80.6 million dollars to that country, making it the 14th largest export destination for the State.
Among the products most exported by Guanajuato to Italy are:
- Automotive sector, 66.92 percent
- Health and beauty, 12.05 percent
- Rubber, 3.65 percent
- Electrical appliances, 3.18 percent
- Auto parts, 2.99 percent
- Metalworks, 2.10 percent
- Leather fashion, 1.82 percent
- Footwear fashion, 1.53 percent
- Leather goods, 1.42 percent
- Chemical industry, 1.42 percent
The main exporting municipalities to Italy are:
- Salamanca, Valle de Santiago, Silao, Leon, San Miguel de Allende, Irapuato, Celaya, Acámbaro, Penjamo and Cortazar
