In order to improve the service provided to visitors in the Magic Towns of Guanajuato, tourist police officers were trained in topics such as visitor orientation, friendly service, tourism culture, knowledge of the destination, emergency protocols and timely response to incidents.
As part of the People’s Government strategy to strengthen the competitiveness of tourist destinations, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI) conducted six Skills Development courses for the Tourist Police, aimed at Public Security and Traffic officers from the six Magic Towns of Guanajuato.
In total, 106 members of municipal corporations participated in this training process, aimed at strengthening their capacity to provide professional, friendly and specialized service to visitors, as well as improving the response to the needs of national and foreign tourists, and contributing to a safer and higher quality experience in the destinations; strengthening compliance with the criteria established by the Secretary of Tourism of the Government of Mexico for the permanence of the destinations in the Magic Towns Program.
Participants developed tourism competitiveness, strengthens the institutional capacities of those who have direct contact with visitors, recognizing that tourist security is one of the most important factors in consolidating competitive, sustainable and quality destinations.
During the courses, participants developed technical, operational and visitor service skills, with content focused on tourism culture, hospitality, effective communication, risk management, action protocols, knowledge of the tourism heritage and identity of each Magic Town, as well as tools to provide guidance and support to national and international tourists.
This ongoing professionalization of the Tourist Police strengthens coordination between municipalities and the State Government, promotes a service culture focused on excellence, and contributes to improve the quality of the tourist experience in Guanajuato destinations.
The People’s Government, through the Ministry of Tourism and Identity, reaffirmed its commitment to promote the ongoing training of those who are part of the tourism value chain, consolidating the Magic Towns of Guanajuato as safe, competitive destinations prepared to offer high-quality experiences.
