Regional Forum on Sustainable Urban Trees is held to strengthen green infrastructure and promote the sustainable management of urban trees

The Regional Sustainable City Forum on Urban Trees was inaugurated in Purisima del Rincon, held during the National Tree Day, with the purpose of opening a space for dialogue and collaboration between specialists, authorities, academics and the people.
During this meeting organized by the municipality and in which the Secretary of Water and Environment of Guanajuato participated, the main environmental challenges facing cities were discussed and proposals were presented to strengthen green infrastructure and promote the sustainable management of urban trees.
The forum was held in La Alameda Park, a space of over 11,000 square meters considered the first green space in Purisima. There, an emblematic tree was also planted: a red oak that will grow more than 5 meters tall and will be a symbol of life and hope.
Later, young students participated in the planting of new species such as varaduz, timber, palo blanco and palo prieto.
The Undersecretary of Territorial Management Noemi Verenice Magana Ramirez, representing the head of the Secretay of Water and Environment Jose Lara Lona, highlighted that this forum is a great space where voices that promote the care and protection of natural resources meet.
“The goal is firm and clear: to generate proposals that strengthen urban trees, green infrastructure, and the quality of life for present and future generations,” said Magana.
The People’s Government reaffirmed that environmental co-responsibility is everyone’s task and that people’s participation is key to build environmentally friendly cities.
