Purisima del Rincon and Guanajuato City have officially become sister cities, sealing a reciprocal agreement to exchange culture, art, and tourism every year in a pact of art, history, and shared identity

Roberto Garcia Urbano, Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, and Samantha Smith, Mayor of Guanajuato City, officially signed the sister city agreement of both cities.
This formalizes a previous letter of intent, opening the door to joint projects designed to boost tourism and economic growth in both historic destinations.
Mayor Garcia Urbano beautifully noted that, much like the timeless oil paintings of legendary local artist Hermenegildo Bustos, this agreement leaves a permanent mark on history.
“This is a pact of understanding, art, and deep friendship between Guanajuato and Purisima del Rincon, ensuring that the vibrant tradition of La Judea will grace the colonial State Capital year after year,” said the Mayor.
Garcia Urbano emphasized that the success of this partnership goes beyond signatures on paper. It lives in the people who experience culture and tourism daily, transforming the city streets into living classrooms that revitalize both the local economy and the social fabric.
Tourism and Heritage as Economic Drivers
To ensure the success of this alliance, Purisima’s Director of Tourism, Jose Roberto Camargo Perez, and Director of Culture, Gerardo Reyes Lopez, will work hand-in-hand with their counterparts in Guanajuato City to launch immediate joint initiatives.
Guanajuato Capital’s Mayor, Samantha Smith, highlighted the immense value of this bond, noting that both cities have proudly shared traditions, gastronomy, and heritage for generations.
Smoth said that Purisima’s presence in the capital, especially the breathtaking performances of La Judea, has become one of the most beloved cultural events for locals and visitors alike.
