The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato successfully airlifted a minor with burns to receive specialized care in Galveston

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato successfully carried out the air transfer of 2-year-old Leonardo from the municipality of Salamanca to Galveston, Texas, to receive specialized medical care.
The child, who has a congenital condition, is originally from Irapuato, and suffered burns from the accidental spill of a hot liquid, which made it necessary for his immediate admission to receive specialized care at the State Center for Critical Care.
At this institution, which is celebrating 15 years of service to the people of Guanajuato, the child was cared for and stabilized by specialized personnel, and then transferred safely and promptly by air.
The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cortes Alcala, thanked the family for their trust in the State Health system, and also acknowledged the coordinated work of the medical and emergency personnel who participated in the initial care.
Currently, the State Center for Critical Care, where the Burn Unit of Salamanca is located, provides professional care to 13 patients, six of whom are minors.
Cortes called on parents and guardians to reinforce prevention actions at home, especially preventing children from coming into contact with hot liquids, electrical installations, or any other risk factor that could cause serious accidents.
“The call is to strengthen the culture of prevention at home and reduce risks that could cause burns or injuries to minors,” said Cortes.
