The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato adds the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine to its vaccination program in all its health units.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, Gabriel Cort}es Alcala, reported that, as part of the continuous strengthening of the vaccination program, the vaccine against Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV), aimed at pregnant women, has been incorporated into the State scheme.

The current vaccination program in the State comprehensively covers the different stages of life, prioritizing disease prevention and the protection of the most vulnerable groups.

Attention to pregnant women is highlighted as a fundamental axis to safeguard both their health and that of their children.

The new RSV vaccine is administered to pregnant women between weeks 32 and 36 of gestation. Its importance lies in the fact that it not only provides protection to the mother, but also transfers defenses to the baby during the first months of life, a stage in which babies are more susceptible to severe respiratory infections.

Gabriel Cortes Alcala highlighted that,with this addition, the Secretary of Health of Guanajuato strengthens the usual vaccination schedule, expanding preventive actions to reduce complications associated with this virus, the main cause of respiratory infections in infants.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato, calls pregnant women to visit the People’s Health Center to receive information and access this vaccine in a timely manner, contributing to the protection of maternal and child health.

The Secretary of Health of Guanajuato reminded everyone that prevention in the care of the population’s health is the best tool to build a healthier Guanajuato.
