With more than 1 million 127 thousand insured workers, Guanajuato ranks 5th in Mexico in creation of jobs and adds 5,590 new jobs in March

Guanajuato reaffirms its position as one of the country’s economic engines by consolidating the generation and preservation of formal jobs, according to the most recent data from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) as of the end of March 2026.
This progress is the result of the leadership of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, who has promoted an economic policy focused on attracting investment, strengthening businesses, and generating more job opportunities for the people of Guanajuato.
Guanajuato registered 1 million 127 thousand 415 insured workers, consolidating itself among the states with the largest number of formal jobs in Mexico.
In March, Guanajuato reported the creation of 5,590 new jobs, placing it 5th nationally in this indicator.
In the year-on-year comparison, the State registers a growth of more than 2,000 formal jobs, reflecting the stability and continuity in the generation of job opportunities.
The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, noted that these figures reflect the dynamism of the labor market in Guanajuato, driven by the growth of key sectors for the economy.
The performance of employment in Guanajuato is based on:
- The growth of service sectors for companies, individuals and households, commerce, transportation, food, social services, the primary sector, household appliances, metal products, machinery and equipment, the electrical industry; oil refining and wooden furniture, which reflects a diversified economy with the capacity to adapt
These results reflect a comprehensive economic strategy that promotes productive diversification, strengthens competitiveness, and fosters the creation of formal jobs. Attracting investment and supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises have been key factors in consolidating a favorable environment for growth.
Similarly, job placement, training, and certification programs have helped strengthen the skills of the talent of Guanajuato, facilitating their access to better work opportunities.
The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Economy, promotes policies that strengthen formal employment, encourage investment, and generate development for Guanajuatense families.
