Government, industry and academia promote innovation, local supply and sustainable growth of the sector

In order to strengthen the competitiveness of the productive sectors, the Secretary of Economy participated in the Forum “Trends and Perspectives of the Chemical Industry in the State of Guanajuato”, organized by the La Salle Bajio University, where the priorities and lines of action that will guide the development of this strategic industry towards the period 2026–2028 were defined.

Under the leadership of the People’s Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, in Guanajuato they make a difference with a broad and diversified economy, which takes advantage of new challenges to generate opportunities and strengthen the prosperity of the people of Guanajuato, in coordination with the productive sectors.

On behalf of the Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, the Undersecretary for the Development of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Raul Fabricio Ibarra Rocha, reaffirmed the commitment of the State Government to maintain a close relationship with the industry, generating conditions that promote investment, innovation and the growth of MSMEs.

During the forum, the conclusions were presented that will allow the sector to establish its work agenda for the period 2026–2028, based on an analysis of the main challenges and opportunities in a global, dynamic and highly competitive environment.

The chemical industry in Guanajuato is consolidating itself as a strategic sector by contributing 6.1% of the State’s Gross Domestic Product, generating more than 38,100 jobs in its value chain and grouping more than 1,600 businesses, in addition to registering exports of 2.641 billion dollars.

It was highlighted that this sector has a cross-cutting impact on various industries such as automotive, agro-food, tanning, pharmaceutical and personal care, which positions it as a key component for the competitiveness of the State’s production chains.

The work of the Guanajuato Chemical Cluster was recognized for its role in connecting companies, promoting innovation and generating employment, as well as its contribution to regional economic development.

The Undersecretary for the Development of MSMEs emphasized the importance of moving towards a more innovative, sustainable industry integrated into global value chains, strengthening the link between companies, academia and government.
