The international organism grants White Flag to Purisima; the Municipality delivers 1,096 scholarships to students from elementary school to university

Roberto Garcia Urbano, Mayor of Purisima del Rincon, noted that the support provided by the Municipality to education has earned the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) to grant Purisima the White Flag for the reduction of illiteracy during 2025.
Purisima del Rincon is the fifth city in the State of Guanajuato to receive this distinction, granted internationally by UNESCO; the other 4 municipalities are Celaya, Guanajuato, Irapuato, and Leon.
“Internationally, Purisima del Rincon has remained under daily analysis and review from different angles, which is why we are observed worldwide, highlighting our deep-rooted culture of identity without losing focus on our search for improvement according to new evaluation structures,” said the Mayor.
Everything is related to a community that is forming and growing; UNESCO agents reviewed:
- The work against school dropout
- Support for education
- The City programs for Education
- Strengthening Families with Basic Skills from the DIF
- Coordinated work with the State through INAEBA
- Work with INEA at a national level
Roberto Garcia Urbano emphasized that, without the participation and dreams of society, these data could not exist at this time.
Continuing with pro-education activities, a meeting was held on Friday for the delivery of scholarships for elementary, middle school, high school, and university students at the Velaria of the Purisima Sports Center, where the Mayor highlighted the progress of education in the Municipality.
Municipal Education authorities delivered 1,096 scholarships for students of the municipal programs “Semilla Trascendente” and “Lider Trascendente,” where the Mayor led them to reflect on how learning happens both in school and in real life.
The supports provided are scholarships that directly recognize those children, adolescents, and young people who have the desire to progress, or those who, despite having needs, do not stop persisting and moving forward.
This is the third stage of delivery for the municipal scholarship programs, of which 875 were from the “Lider Trascendente” program and 221 from “Semilla Trascendente.” Parents accompanied their children, and university students attended, some accompanied and others directly, to receive their respective quarterly support.
Finally, the Mayor, with members of the City Council, took the opportunity to issue a general invitation for everyone to continue participating in environmental care, as it is part of training and education, and congratulated the people of Purisima.
“The UN, through the FAO, has already recognized us worldwide as a Tree City, and it will be very important that you join us in our next massive event to continue taking significant steps and strategically plant more trees to help keep the city cool and improve coexistence among all os us,” said the Mayor.
