The Government of the State of Guanajuato will conduct a working tour of Spain from January 19 to 23, as part of a comprehensive strategy to strengthen the State’s international projection in tourism, investment and economic promotion.

The delegation will be led by Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo and the Secretary of Tourism and Identity of the State, Guadalupe Robles, along with their team, who will represent Guanajuato at the FITUR 2026 International Tourism Fair, one of the most important meetings in the sector globally.

“In the People’s Government, we want to continue strongly promoting Guanajuato and generating more opportunities for our families. That is why we will be undertaking an intensive work tour of Spain, with a strategic agenda that has a very clear purpose: to put Guanajuato in the world’s spotlight,” said Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo.

This year, FITUR takes on special significance with Mexico as the Guest of Honor, representing a strategic opportunity to position Guanajuato in the main international tourism circuits.
Spain is also the second largest source of tourism for Guanajuato. Therefore, the tour will include meetings with authorities, international organizations, airline executives, and hotel chains, to strengthen partnerships, boost air connectivity, and attract tourism investment.

“We want the world to know, come to, and fall in love with Guanajuato. Our goal is to consolidate the State as a competitive, innovative, and forward-thinking destination,” the Governor added.
FITUR is not just about Spain: it’s a global meeting point where destinations, companies, and organizations from over 160 countries participate, making Madrid, during those days, the main decision-making center for international tourism. Being there means engaging in dialogue not with just one market, but with dozens simultaneously: Europe, Latin America, North America, Asia, and the Middle East.

Not being at FITUR is not a choice. Today it is the space where alliances are forged, markets are opened, and real opportunities for promotion, investment, and air and commercial connectivity are built.
The international agenda stems from a concrete reality: Spain is already a strategic market for Guanajuato. In the latest figures, the destination registered the arrival of 201,283 visitors, generating an economic impact of over 475 million pesos, consolidating the European market as a priority for the tourism promotion of Guanajuato.

In the economic sphere, between January and September 2025, 91 Guanajuatense companies exported to the Spanish market from 21 municipalities, with a value exceeding 27.2 million dollars and a growth of nearly 61% compared to the previous year.
In addition, accumulated Spanish investment in Guanajuato exceeds $439 million, with more than 4,000 direct jobs in key sectors such as tourism, financial services, transportation and infrastructure.

This year, Guanajuato will have its strongest presence ever at FITUR, with a larger pavilion, a diverse delegation made up of municipalities and tour operators, and an agenda that includes not only the fair, but also meetings with airlines, international organizations, hotel groups, investors and key players for the State’s economic development.
The State Secretary of Tourism and Identity plays a central role in this agenda, as the area responsible for leading the international promotion of Guanajuato.

As part of the tour, on Monday, January 19, the Guanajuato Experience will take place in Madrid, an event that has become a hallmark of the State’s international presence, bringing together travel agencies and wholesalers, airlines, tourism developers, chefs, industry organizations and media from different countries.
