Guanajuato’s GDP grew 4.0% in 2024, making it the fourth fastest-growing economy in the country
The State contributes 4.5% to the national GDP, consolidating itself as the fifth most important economy in Mexico

In 2024, Guanajuato’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4%, according to the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI).

Under the leadership of the State Governor, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, Guanajuato is positioning itself among the leading states in economic growth in Mexico.

The Secretary of Economy, Claudia Cristina Villasenor Aguilar, stated that this achievement reflects the strength and diversification of Guanajuato’s productive activity, which includes a solid manufacturing industry, development of productive infrastructure, and Industrial Connection.
With a contribution of 4.5 percent to the national GDP, Guanajuato consolidates itself as the fifth most important economy of Mexico, with an estimated value of 82 billion 971 million dollars.

Guanajuato’s primary sector contributes 5.2 percent to the national total, ranking seventh nationwide. This sector registered moderate growth of 0.7 percent.
Meanwhile, the secondary sector contributes 5.5 percent, placing Guanajuato fifth nationally. Within this segment, industrial activities showed remarkable dynamism, with overall growth of 5.2 percent.
Construction leads this advance with an increase of 14.8 percent, followed by mining with a rise of 12.8 percent and manufacturing industries, which grew 3.7 percent.

Finally, the service sector represents 4.0 percent of Guanajuato’s national gross domestic product and ranks sixth. GDP growth in service sector activities was 3.3 percent; among the most prominent branches are accommodation and food services, with an increase of 17.9 percent, professional, scientific, and technical services with 12.9 percent, and retail trade, which grew by 6.2 percent.
Guanajuato maintained its capacity to grow thanks to its strategy focused on economic diversification and the productive scaling of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in their value chains through the attraction of targeted, complementary and sustainable investments, as well as the improvement of formal employment.

Guanajuato’s economic policy is geared towards social inclusion and the well-being of Guanajuatense families. This vision transforms development into a genuine opportunity to improve the quality of life for all Guanajuatenses.
