“Our athletes are synonymous with hope, heart, and the future; victory is guaranteed when passion accompanies every effort,” said the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, at the inauguration of the swimming stage of the CONADE 2026 National Olympics in Guanajuato.

From the Aquatic Center of Leon, the State Governor kicked off the aquatic competitions, in an event that brings together athletes, coaches and families from all over the country, consolidating Guanajuato as a venue for major sporting events.

Libia Dennise emphasized that sport is a tool for social transformation and a driving force for building a better future: “No matter how many times we have to give that final effort, that’s where the glory of our athletes is forged.” Libia welcomed the participating delegations and acknowledged the crucial support of parents in the development of young athletes.

The 2026 CONADE National Olympics will be held from April 16 to June 6 in seven states across Mexico, with Puebla as the main venue, and the participation of thousands of athletes in 51 disciplines. Guanajuato serves as a key sub-venue, hosting diving, swimming, fronton, and artistic swimming competitions, welcoming approximately 2,600 athletes.

In particular, the swimming discipline is held from May 4 to 11 in Leon, marking the beginning of an intense sporting day in Guanajuato.
Romel Pacheco, Director General of the National Sports Commission (CONADE), recognized the National Olympiad as the main breeding ground for Mexican sports and a space that forges the character of new generations: “every medal, every record and even every defeat experienced here is what will lead you to fulfill your dreams, even to the Olympic Games.”

Pacheco noted the coordinated work of the different levels of government to strengthen sports in Mexico and encouraged the athletes to give their best effort: “If you have a dream and never stop believing in yourselves, that victory will come.”

The Guanajuato delegation, made up of more than 850 athletes competing in 36 disciplines, will seek to consolidate itself among the best in Mexico, after achieving a historic result of 298 medals in the previous edition.

“Let the strength of Mexico be felt from Guanajuato. Welcome to this land where dreams are fulfilled with discipline and heart,” said the People’s Governor.
