In celebration of Mexican Independence Month, the State of Guanajuato is preparing to commemorate the 215th anniversary of the beginning of Mexican Independence, a historic event that marked the course of the Nation and started in our State.
Seeking to strengthen national identity, preserve historical memory, and generate tourism, the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, with municipal administrations, has planned a wide range of civic activities in the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato.
Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of National Independence, celebrates with an extensive cultural, civic, and recreational agenda throughout the month of September, commemorating the historic Call for Independence led by Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in 1810.
With the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, the national celebrations reach their peak on September 15th, when the Call for Independence will be raised from the door of the Parroquia de Dolores, for the first time by a female Governor in Guanajuato, paying homage to the beginning of the Insurgent movement.
Afterward, there is a performance by the internationally renowned group “Los Tigres del Norte” who will make all present dance and sing, proudly reminding us of our roots and the privilege of being Mexican and being Guanajuatense.
SECTURI reaffirms its commitment to promote these festivities as a driving force for cultural tourism and local economic development. Fiestas Patrias 2025 represents not only a tribute to the historical legacy of the heroes of Independence, but also an opportunity to promote Guanajuato as a destination with plenty of tradition, hospitality, and Mexican pride.
The largest events will take place in 25 municipalities across Guanajuato, with civic events, popular festivals, and family-friendly concerts featuring renowned bands.
