As he presented his 6th Report of the State, Governor of Guanajuato said that he will focus his effort to leave a strong State in national and international investment
The Governor announced the free internet RED GTO program, initially it will provide the service in 6 municipalities: León, Silao, Guanajuato City, Irapuato, Celaya and Salamanca

“In these five and a half years I have seen that the Greatness of our State is everywhere. United, we have built the Greatness of Guanajuato. We Guanajuatenses know how to go ahead and have the ability to overcome any obstacle”, said the Governor of Guanajuato, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo.
The Governor presented his Sixth Government Report at the Velaria of the Leon State Fair.
The Governor of Guanajuato went up the stage driving the prototype of an all electric car fully developed by engineers of the University of Guanajuato.
“Guanajuato is a State of heroes, of giants, of titans. The government’s action is important, but only with the help of the people, because you are the true protagonists of change,” said the Governor.
In his Report, the Governor said, “today we make three important announcements: the first is that we are going to continue building infrastructure for all municipalities”.
“For example, we will rehabilitate the Celaya-Empalme Escobedo highway, fourth stage; the rehabilitation of the Valle de Santiago-La Gachupina-El Pitahayo road, second stage; or the vehicular bridge over the Laja River in Dolores Hidalgo, among other works”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“The other announcement is that for the first time in its history, Guanajuato will have a state-of-the-art digital fiber optic network, with which we will provide free internet in 1,120 places in our State”, said the Governor.
Among these places, we will benefit schools, hospitals, health centers, “Guanajuato Contigo Si” Centers, public squares, sports complexes, among many other places. We have called it RED GTO and we will be investing more than 543 million pesos in it, in a first stage”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
With this RED GTO, the service will initially be provided in 6 municipalities:
- Leon, Silao, Guanajuato City, Irapuato, Celaya and Salamanca
And the third announcement is that “we will continue to support Guanajuato women. This year the delivery of Women Greatness Cards increased. In 2023, we deliver 76 thousand. And in 2024, the plan was to deliver 125 thousand.
“Today, I want to announce to you with great pleasure that we will reach 300 thousand cards, with an additional investment of more than 2.1 billion pesos,” said the Governor.
“The women of Guanajuato deserve it, the women of Guanajuato are honest; they are women who fight, who work and who need support to move ahead. The support for each one will be 12 thousand pesos this year. What we want to tell them is that they are not alone and we want them to continue advancing in their development”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
“In these years I have seen that Guanajuato people always make their way in life, I experienced it in the years of the pandemic, when we faced Covid 19, united. I have seen it in the eyes of women, who know that their time has come and that they are prepared to take our State further”, said the Governor.
Rodriguez Vallejo noted that Guanajuato went from being the sixth largest economy to becoming the fifth most important in Mexico. “It is an extraordinary achievement that we will leave as a great legacy of these years of work.”
He added that in 30 years it has managed to go from being an agricultural economy to an industrial power; and now, Guanajuato is the fifth state with the highest Gross Domestic Product, already reaching more than 64.9 billion dollars annually.
The Governor said that records have also been broken in exports:
- In 2022, 31.7 billion dollars were reached
- And in 2023 it is predicted that the official goal will be exceeded
Rodriguez Vallejo said that for the eighth consecutive year, Guanajuato is the first place in exports among non-border states.
In 2023, the six-year goal of attracting more than 7 billion dollars in foreign investment was exceeded; and this year, it will reach 8 billion dollars, he said.
“But what is important are the stories that these investments generate. Stories of thousands of Guanajuato families, who move forward on their own merits,” said the Governor.
Rodriguez Vallejo noted that 13 years ago, the Pirelli company arrived in Guanajuato, with an initial investment of 200 million dollars. Today, Pirelli has grown its operations and has nearly a billion dollars invested. In this company they recognize the level of Guanajuato engineers. “And this story is just what I am talking about, this is more Guanajuato in the world. These are our export talents”, he said.
The Governor emphasized that “we are the best in health. Five years ago we made the big decision not to join INSABI, the Federal Health system. And time proved us right. That was a good decision, when COVID arrived, we were the State that best managed the pandemic.”
In Guanajuato there are medicines, and we have the best clinics and public hospitals in all of Mexico, he added.
He said that in Guanajuato there has been a strong commitment to creativity, talent and innovation, which is why the Valley of Mindfacture was promoted, which is one of our great legacies, it is an ecosystem that fully accompanies the initiatives of companies and entrepreneurs. For this reason, the Governor spoke with young students who are innovators, who have developed projects that are elevating Guanajuato.
The Governor recognized the work of the President of the State DIF, Adriana Ramirez Lozano; “she has been the heart of the DIF, and the DIF has been the heart of Guanajuato. Adriana has worked to make Guanajuato a big family, united by solidarity and commitment, but essentially by love for the people”.
“Thank you, because in these years you agreed to extend our family with the more than 6 million Guanajuato residents. Thank you for supporting my efforts and understanding my concerns. Thank you very much for understanding me and, especially, for being a leader who supports and has given her maximum effort for the Guanajuatense families”, he said.
“I also thank my daughters for their enthusiasm, for being my driving force and my reason to be”, said the Governor.
