The People’s Government of Governor Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, and the Secretary of Tourism and Identity (SECTURI), announce the completion of the First Preliminary Round of the 14th Traditional Cuisine Encounter 2026, held in the Enchantment of Guanajuato: Canada de Caracheo, in Cortazar.
The 14th Traditional Cuisine Encounter Guanajuato ¡Si Sabe! 2026, is a valuable promotional platform for the gastronomy of our State, which allows us to highlight the richness and diversity of endemic flavors, while fostering interest in the traditional cuisine of the different regions of Guanajuato.
This gastronomic event takes place in two fundamental stages: Three preliminary rounds and the grand final in Irapuato, on May 30 and 31, 2026.
During the preliminary stages, representatives from the 46 municipalities of Guanajuato actively participate, showcasing their gastronomic specialties and sharing their culinary traditions; these participations are evaluated by a judging panel that will determine which dish is the most representative of each municipality, so that it can advance to the grand final.
On May 3, 2026, the First Preliminary Round took place at the Encanto de Guanajuato in Canada de Caracheo, in Cortazar.
Twenty-one cooks representing 14 municipalities participated:
- Abasolo, Apaseo el Grande, Apaseo el Alto, Celaya, Comonfort, Cortazar, Irapuato, Manuel Doblado, Penjamo, Purisima del Rincon, Salamanca, San Francisco del Rincon, Santa Cruz de Juventino Rosas, and Silao de la Victoria
For the grand finale event, there will be a representation of a cook from each participating municipality, as well as exhibitors of beverages and spirits, and artisans from all over the State.
On May 9th, the Second Preliminary Round was held in the Main Square of Nuevo Chupicuaro, Acambaro, and the next events are scheduled for:
- May 17th, the Third Preliminary Round in the Main Square of Tierra Blanca
- The Grand Final will take place on May 30th and 31st in the Historic Center of Irapuato
