Talent is found with Volkswagen 3.0 Challenge

The Innovation Institute promotes university talent in the Grand Final of the Volkswagen 3.0 Challenge

With the goal of consolidating Guanajuato as a benchmark in solving industrial challenges through young talent, the Innovation Institute participated in the grand final of the Volkswagen Guanajuato 3.0 Challenge.

In this third edition, the Institute reaffirmed its commitment to open innovation, acting as the link between Volkswagen de Mexico’s plant in Silao and the higher education institutions of Guanajuato.

This collaboration, carried out with the Innovation Department of the municipality of Leon, enabled 150 students to develop technological solutions for critical areas such as logistics, quality, and production.

The Institute’s participation has been comprehensive since the program’s launch, highlighting the following pillars of support:

• Call for Participation and Collaboration: The Institute was a key player in reaching out to universities, achieving the participation of 150 students committed to technological transformation
• Specialized Training: Through its Mentor Network, the Institute provided technical workshops at the start of the program to provide young people with methodological tools
• Innovation Infrastructure: The Innovation District served as the official venue for the semi-final stage, providing a state-of-the-art space for the evaluation of the projects
• Knowledge Transfer: During the grand final, the Institute hosted talks by experts in innovation and technology, enriching the vision of the 12 finalist students

During the event, Omar Silva Palancares, Director General of Science, Innovation and Entrepreneurship at the Innovation Institute, highlighted that these types of challenges are fundamental to apply the intelligence of Guanajuatenses in real solutions, such as the use of Artificial Intelligence to track failures and the optimization of supply routes.

The presidium included the participation of Jörg Zeller, General Director of the Volkswagen plant in Silao, and Maria Fernanda Rodriguez Gonzalez, head of the Secretary for Economic Reactivation of Leon, who agreed on the importance of the triple helix model promoted by the Institute to increase the productivity of the region.

The Institute congratulates all participants for their effort, with special recognition to the teams that achieved first place thanks to their innovative proposals:

• 1st Place: Datatronics Team of the University of Celaya
• 2nd Place: Traceability Team of TecNM Celaya
• 3rd Place: Fuerza V4 Team of ITESI San Jose Iturbide

The People’s Government, through the Innovation Institute, Works to position Guanajuato as a State where knowledge is transformed into added value for the global automotive industry.
