With the acquisition of more than 3,470 queen bees and 306 nuclei or colonies of these important insects, the State Government, through the SDAyR, will strengthen the activity of beekeepers from Guanajuato.
Paulo Banuelos Rosales, Secretary of Agro-Food and Rural Development, reported that these figures were the result of the support window that was opened at the Livestock Expo of the Leon State Fair 2023, where 53 requests for support from different parts of Guanajuato were received.
“I want to emphasize that it is a support that has never been given before in Guanajuato, and that it has been thanks to the Promotion of governor, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, who is committed to the care and protection of bees, as well as the impulse to the beekeepers and their activity”, said the Secretary.
Banuelos explained that 53 applications were received; 47 of them were for genetically selected queen bees, for an approximate amount of $512 thousand 158 pesos, for a quantity of 3 thousand 470 queen bees.
In addition, there were six requests for nuclei or colonies of bees, for 306 nuclei for an amount of $271,740. Therefore, the total support from the SDAyR for these requests will be $783,898 pesos, for 53 beneficiaries.
The head of the SDAyR said that the support limit in this window was up to one million pesos, so they will still seek to distribute the rest of the resources.
