Of the more than 270 million pairs of footwear produced in the country, more than 70 percent are produced in Guanajuato, which is why SAPICA contributes to giving more competitiveness and dynamism to the footwear leather sector, it is a fundamental piece in the economic development of Guanajuato and of Mexico.
The former was stated by the Governor of the State, Diego Sinhue Rodriguez Vallejo, at the opening ceremony of the 87th edition of SAPICA.
“It is a pleasure to participate again in this great industrial fair that is SAPICA, and that represents the heart of the Mexican footwear industry. For me, it has always been a pride to be with them, and to give the most cordial welcome to visitors, exhibitors and buyers to this 87th edition”, said the Governor.
Rodríguez Vallejo congratulated the organizers of this fair, which is already part of the city’s heritage, and which has established itself as the most important footwear and leather goods exhibition in Latin America.
Service providers, hoteliers, restaurateurs, the commercial sector, all hopefully await a new edition of SAPICA, due to the economic benefit and the commercial dynamism it generates”, said Rodriguez Vallejo.
The Governor highlighted that SAPICA was created by the talent and vision of local entrepreneurs, and during these decades they have managed to become the maximum commercial showcase of the Mexican leather and footwear industry.
Rodriguez Vallejo said that SAPICA injects competitiveness and dynamism into the footwear leather sector, which is a fundamental piece in the economic development of Leon and Guanajuato.
The Governor said that the footwear industry has managed to overcome various crises, the most recent the Covid 19 pandemic; “Today this sector continues to generate more jobs for Guanajuatenses.”
Rodriguez Vallejo noted that this sector is part of one of the pillars that make Guanajuato the sixth largest economy in the country.
“To strengthen Guanajuato, next week I will make a work tour of the United States and then Italy to announce new investments”, said the Governor.
Rodriguez Vallejo invited the Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo, who was in this ceremony, to visit more our State to know the good news of what is being done in Guanajuato.
The Governor congratulated the businessman Ernesto Joaquin Pollano Orozco, of the companies Hispana and Efe who was recognized in this event for his career as the best Sales Agent.
Also Roberto Ruiz, from the Andrea company was awarded as the best retailer. “Both have contributed a lot in the marketing of footwear and are worthy of the awards that have been given to them.”
Rodríguez Vallejo pointed out that SAPICA comes to consolidate the international image of footwear from Guanajuato, which is one of the best in the world. Here, in this world-class event, Mexican fashion in footwear is being detonated through conferences, catwalks, innovative designs and avant-garde models.

The Secretary of Economy, Tatiana Clouthier Carrillo, after acknowledging the work of the State Government so that Guanajuato continues to be one of the most important logistics hubs in the country, said that SAPICA “is a wonderful event.”
The President of SAPICA, Mauricio Blas Battaglia Velazquez, highlighted that this fair is the ideal space to detonate footwear fashion in our country through conferences, catwalks with innovative designs and cutting-edge models.
