SECTURI includes routes based in history, culture, gastronomy, and nature to strengthen the regional economy
Leon/Gto News
The People’s Government, through the Secretary of Tourism and Identity, presented part of the comprehensive strategy that will strengthen the local economy through the development of tourism products with a regional identity that will attract more visitors to all regions of the State.

Among the actions considered are the promotion of cultural and gastronomic events and the structuring of new theme routes.

With the participation of more than 1,235 tourism sector service providers and the coordination of the Guanajuato State Planning Institute (Iplaneg), a comprehensive assessment of the seven regions into which the State is divided was conducted, this allowed for the identification of needs, proposals, and the strategic pillars of the new State tourism model: history and culture, gastronomy, nature and adventure, religious tourism, wellness, and meeting-based tourism (MICE).
Highlights include routes such as:
- Independence Route
- Convents Route
- Archaeological experiences
- Visits to historic centers such as Guanajuato City, Dolores Hidalgo, and Salvatierra

In the culinary field, it was learned that our native products, such as escamoles, garambullo, mezcal, tequila, wine, cajeta, tamales, handmade tortillas, and the traditional caldo de zorra (vixen broth), are elements that allow for the development of gastronomic festivals that boost the economic dynamics of each region.

Guanajuato is a comprehensive, diversified, and competitive destination that seeks to integrate more theme routes and experiences differentiated by region, highlighting the cultural identity of each municipality.
Furthermore, it was deemed necessary to continue working with quality standards and a segmented promotion plan, both for the domestic and international markets, as well as improve signage, road access, and transportation, in order to guarantee digital connectivity in all of the key tourist destinations of Guanajuato.

Also among the projects considered, specialized programs will be designed for niche markets, such as:
- Ecotourism, medical tourism, or religious tourism, with sustainable, inclusive experiences adapted to global tourism trends

This development model seeks not only to attract visitors but also to ensure a positive and lasting impact on communities.
