More than six thousand people will gather at this gastronomic event that is supported by SECTUR through the Public Policy of “Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe!”

The most delicious dishes will be tasted at the Traditional Cuisine Meeting in Leon

Forty-six chefs from the State of Guanajuato will delight thousands of families at the delicious Traditional Cuisine Meeting on June 29 and 30 at the Velaria of the Leon Fair.

This gathering, which celebrates its 12th. Edition, will be unforgettable, Guanajuato residents and visitors will try exotic and creative dishes from the region, said Juan Jose Alvarez Brunel, Secretary of Tourism of Guanajuato, at a press conference at Canaco Leon.

More than six thousand people will gather at this gastronomic event that strengthens SECTUR through the Public Policy of “Guanajuato ¡Sí Sabe!”, highlighting each of the cooks who preserve, disseminate and promote the culinary heritage that still exists in the 46 municipalities of the State.

That is our objective, “to position Guanajuato’s cuisine through this very successful public policy, a policy that has positioned traditional chefs, signature cuisine, and the great talents we have in public and private schools”, noted the Secretary of Tourism.

Guanajuato dishes are a great attraction, SECTUR has a record of a large percentage of visitors who come to any of the 46 municipalities motivated by gastronomy and, “this work is done by you, exponents of cuisine who make us live great gastronomic stories , highlighting why Guanajuato is the Greatness of Mexico,” said Alvarez Brunel.

These meetings favor economic development and social integration. Families will have the opportunity to try, in one place, capon broth, xoconostle mole, torrejas, pork moronga, pinole gorditas, pulque rosquillo, aguamiel atole, pipian, pumpkin orejones, menudo tatemado, potatoes lime tree, lamb burger, among other delicacies.

All these dishes will be prepared by cooks from:

  • Dolores Hidalgo CIN, San Felipe, Ocampo, Victoria, San Luis de la Paz, San Jose Iturbide, Doctor Mora, San Miguel de Allende, San Diego de la Union, Manuel Doblado, San Francisco del Rincon, Apaseo el Alto, Huanimaro, Abasolo, Irapuato, Penjamo, Valle de Santiago, Juventino Rosas, Comonfort, Silao, Romita, Guanajuato City, Tarandacuao, Yuriria, Salvatierra, Coroneo, Tarimoro, Cortazar, Jaral del Progreso, and Celaya

In addition to tasting Guanajuatense dishes, families will be able to participate in workshops and tastings such as:

  • “Chiclosos and Obleas made of Cajeta de Celaya”, “Pambazo and Cecina Tasting from San Francisco del Rincon”, “Exotic Chocolate Tasting from Guanajuato City with Mezcal from San Felipe”, “Josesitas Dolls from San Jose Iturbide”, “Cata-Pairing from Casa Corralejo”

The program will be enriched with a dynamic “Gastronomic Route KM. 0/ taught by SECTUR; composting by Maria Paula Escalante Moreno; seed germination workshop for gardens and Health, nutrition and pests in gardens at home by Alejandra Marquez.

There will also be drinks sold by:

  • Tequila Corralejo, Pulque Tallacua, Bodegas Campotoro, Pulque Sacrificio, APROCEG, Destileria María de la Paz, Vallehalla, and Mezcal OKUI

While enjoying all this, attendees will enjoy artistic and cultural shows by Solistas Rancheros, Estudiantina Compostela from Guanajuato City, Israel and his Huapangueros from Victoria, IMCAR folkloric dance group from Irapuato, Banda Capricora from Leon, Chichimeca dance group Jonaz from San Luis de la Paz.

Also presented is a Tribute to Jose Alfredo Jimenez, the Guamares ceremonial dance group of the Pueblo Magico of Comonfort, the Empire Band of Purisima del Rincon, and the “Por Guanajuato” Show by the Tlen Touaxca Folkloric Ballet of Leon

Authorities will hold the awards ceremony -On Sunday, June 30- for the cooks who participated in the Salty Dish and Sweet Dish Contest that was part of the preliminaries that were held in three regions of the State:

  • North, Mineral de Pozos
  • Center, San Francisco del Rincon
  • South, Cortazar; on April 21 and 28, and May 5

The Contest included the participation of the 46 chefs who will be present at the Meeting.
