An investment makes sense when, behind the new machines, technology, and growth of a company, opportunities for people and the stability of their families also grow, noted the Governor of the People, Libia Dennise Garcia Munoz Ledo, during the inauguration of new productive investments by Martinrea at its Silao plant.

The Canadian company invested $50 million to expand its manufacturing capabilities and committed to creating 30 new jobs. The project includes a 3,000-ton press, one of the largest in Latin America for stamping automotive metal components, a roll forming process, and new cells for various production processes.

“Behind every job, behind every employee who puts their heart into a workday, there is also stability for a family. There are families who find support, there are dreams that grow in this plant,” said Libia Dennise.

The Governor recalled that Martinrea began operations in Guanajuato in 2012 with 53 employees and currently has 596 women and men, so she noted that this new investment also represents trust in the talent that has been trained and specialized in the State.

Joe Grunstein, General Manager of Martinrea’s Silao Plant, explained that the incorporation of new technology will strengthen the plant’s competitiveness and develop new skills among its employees. He added that the investment is linked to General Motors’ new generation of platforms and opens up possibilities for attracting more projects and continuing the growth of operations in Guanajuato.

Rob Wildeboer, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors of Martinrea International, noted that the new infrastructure represents more than just machinery: it signifies growth, innovation, and people.

Wildeboer noted that Mexico has Martinrea’s largest operational presence worldwide, with 15 facilities in five states and approximately 8,000 employees, and reiterated the company’s long-term commitment to Guanajuato.

“We are here because we believe this region offers both competitiveness and stability. We believe in its workforce, we believe in its communities, and we believe in what can be achieved when governments, businesses, and communities collaborate toward a common goal,” Wildeboer said.

With this reinvestment, during the first two years of the People’s Government, 81 projects totaling $6,556.87 million and 20,747 jobs have been committed in 16 municipalities, coming from 14 countries and from sectors ranging from automotive and new technologies to agro-industry, pharmaceuticals, energy and textiles.

The Governor said that the goal is for that economic growth to reach households: “When a company grows in Guanajuato, it makes our state grow, and when Guanajuato grows, opportunities for our people grow with it.”
